I was a little extreme with the ‘Butch Jones, Sr’ line, but I do think Brian Kelly benefited from some easy schedules at Notre Dame. I can’t remember a ‘big’ game that they won during his tenure. I’m just not sure he’s gonna make it at LSU.

They’ve lost a lot of talent and had serious culture issues the last few years. Eli Ricks left for Bama and I’ve heard he doesn’t want to practice at Bama and may not start at the beginning of the season. That’s the type of culture Kelly is walking into at LSU.

I think we all have groaned every time that we’ve seen Notre Dame make a CFP or BCS game. I’m not totally sold on Kelly, but I think if Orgeron and Miles can win titles at LSU, he definitely can too. I don’t think it’s going to happen overnight. LSU is one of the greatest unknowns of the SEC going into the season. They always have talent, but they have questions at QB and like you said, they are rebuilding the culture. I honestly think we can go in there and win. I don’t think it will be a night game bc aTm and Bama are on CBS primetime that day. Auburn vs UGA are the same day and Arkansas vs Miss State and UK vs USCjr . We could end up at noon or 11am local kick. If we play at noon coming off of a bye I’ll say right now that we win that game.

If I was going to throw out a number it would be 10-2 ....
But football is funny ... so now I'm down to 9-3 ...
But there are referees and unknowns ... so- 8-4 sounds about right ...
Then there are injuries to key players ... what a bummer 6-6 or 7-5.

I really hate to get into this.... because I NEVER like to pick the Vols to lose. But a LOT of stuff would have to go perfect to get to 10-2. I think there are 10 winnable games on the schedule but there are teams on the schedule who could be better than anticipated like LSU.

I am hopeful that the Vols win 10. I think it would be underperformance if they win less than 8. But expecting 10 sets you up for disappointment and maybe even some unfair condemnations of the team, coaches, and players if they do not hit it.

Also other coaches have a season of film to now look at. I know we didn't open the full playbook but still teams should be better prepared this season.

Heup has the team competing late, but the SEC wants a uga-Bama championship and the refs bail out the butt-sniffers with a bogus call with under 3 minutes left in the game. Every. Damn. Year. Missouri - Heup blasts the SEC officiating all week and then names his score against Mizzou. Expect 70.

South Carolina - These guys are already dead by this point in the season. Rattler has been crushed by the SEC grind and we play against a grad assistant. Expect 60.

I think LSU is the great unknown. They have a talented roster that underperformed last year. They’ll be adapting to a new coach and systems. Could go either way.

I’d love to be this positive. I think this completely ignores how bad this team was defensively. Last in time of possession. 103rd on giving up 3rd down conversions. One of the worst in penalties.

I'll start with the people who have millions upon millions of dollars on the line regarding our win total; Vegas.

We are @ o/u7.5 on wins. But it's not a 50/50 chance for 7 or 8. We must consider the odds for each.

Under 7.5 is @ +145 with the over at -170. That means if you bet $100 on the under, you will win $145, conversely, you must bet $170 on the over to win back $100.

It also means that the odds slightly favor Tennessee winning at least 8 games with a probability of about 62%. The probability that UT wins less than 8 games is about 41%

The odds for Tennessee to win 10+ games is set at +450, which means placing a $100 wager would win you $450.
