Went to Gus's Friday for the first time since August 2004. I remember why. 5.00 food at a 15.00 price.

I HATE Gus's Deli. Week of Alabama game about three years ago some hotshot thought it was cool to wear a Bama hat and take everyone's order. He deserved his rear-end whipped.

If you are into the steamed sandwich, Nixon's or Sam and Andy's do it much better and for a better price.

And no joker is wearing a Bama hat taking your order either.

Overpriced? maybe. probably.

Llot of memories from that place. Consider how close it was to the dorm, it was a great stop on the way home from Ivy's beer bust or Gabby's 3-4-1. Plus Gus would sell you a 6 any time.
where was gabby's again? can't remember ..

true about a 6'er any time ...

Carraba's only exists because a portion of the population is too damn lazy to microwave a can of Chef Boyardee at home.

They have a stuffed chicken dish that I really enjoy, but I rarely go. Paying for noodles doesn't do it for me.

Have had Harby's and not PP or Elidio's, but I <3 NY Pizza on Chapman is my favorite in Knoxville.

I think Naples and Savellis are overrated. Carrabas is actually decent.

Italy is the favorite destination for the wife and I. We stay away from tourists and off the beaten path to have a true Italian experience. Savelli's and, especially, Naples is nowhere remotely close to authentic fare. Carrabas, while making some obvious concessions, offers a closer take on the real thing.

Not really the Knoxville area, but what is the scoop on Big Ed's Pizza in Oak Ridge? Some of my close friends grew up in that town and that is all they talk about when it comes to ordering a pizza. Is it worth checking out?

I wanted to try Big Ed's when I was up at Oak Ridge, but I couldn't justify spending $26 on a large pizza and some sodas.

Everyone I know with ties to Oak Ridge considers Big Eds as the mecca of Oak Ridge culture. Every now and then I will see someone rocking a Big Eds T-shirt in the Nashville area.

It's a mainstay. Been around a long time. My parents used to go there when they were in high school.
