'10 CA DT George Uko

This would be huge. With it looking like we are going to lose all three of our current DT commitments, I don't doubt our staff will be going after these guys hard.

he hasn't done an interview in about a month, things can change quick.

I understand that much, I just don't think that we have made that many inroads with them that we couldn't make earlier in the year. I would love to land him, but he's a west coast guy.

I wish Feldman would write another book about our staff recruiting just so we could know how things worked out this year.

We are high on Uko's list on Rivals. You only have to say Monte and that's good enough for some recruits. They look at it from a business standpoint. Higher in the NFL draft if trained and coached by the guru himself. I think we end up with some studs we never even thought about having a chance with. Especially if we finish this season up the way we played last night.

This is jmo, but this sounds kinda ridiculous and BTVs track record is getting worse and worse. The only thing I've seen him right on was when he pulled Shakim Phillips info out of left field. Here's some of the things he's said in recent weeks:

- Uko is a Vol lock
- UT has no shot with Luc, we didn't blow him away on his visit
- UT will not offer Matt Simms (Hubbs and LWS both disagree)
- Scroggins will be visiting for the Memphis game
- on Thursday, he posted that Dyer was committing to UT Friday

Take this info with a HUGE grain of salt. If he is right on this, I will believe every word he says from now on. Heck, if we don't offer Simms I will think more highly of him. I'm just very skeptical right now though...

what makes you so sure?
Just wondering

The only other school that's a possibility is Oregon. He's been flip flopping between the California schools as his top 2-3 for 2 months now.

It's basically going to be between USC, UCLA, and Cal. Some other Pac-10 school may jump up for a minute, but in the end he'll stay home. It's just hard to pull guys out of California.

UT hasn't been on Uko's radar since the late summer or maybe earlier. He is going to stay on the West Coast barring some unforeseen circumstances.

you obv have not been paying attention this recruiting season. Stuff like this happens all the time. Chaz green was not interested in us then BOOM were his leader

Chaz Green's parents also went to UT. That's one of the biggest reasons we made the inroads we did.

Really??!!?? thats your one example to illustrate why he "isn't paying attention"? jeez. Why the smack?

george uko (chino, calif./don lugo) took his official visit to ucla this past weekend. It's been a strange relationship between uko and the bruins since last spring but following his visit, it looks like ucla is now a serious player for the talented tackle.

"i had a great visit to ucla," uko said. "they definitely moved way up for me but i really can't say how high right now. I just want to get through my visits and then i'll make my decision, i really don't want to rank the schools until then.

"ucla has a lot to offer though. It felt like i was part of a family at ucla, my parents felt the same thing, they loved it there. The players were great to hang with, the other recruits were real cool and i already love the coaching staff.

Uko has always mentioned the opportunity to play early for the bruins and that was made even more clear over the weekend.

"it's crazy what they lose at tackle," uko said. "i mean, they lose everyone, there is literally no one ahead of me if i went there. Almost any dt could go in there and play early. So the combination of early playing time and playing for coach howard are both big for me.

"i have some great choices and i can't go wrong with any of them so i'm just going to finish off the visits and then break it all down. January 2 at the ua game, i'll make my pick and it's going to be very tough, that's for sure. Ucla gave me a lot to think about and i'm sure oregon and usc will be great visits as well so we'll see what happens."
