i wouldnt be suprised if word leaked out before the announcement. this has the Marlon Brown, Orson Charles feel. the "feel" is usually pretty accurate. the bryce brown and janzen jackson wait was a much different atmosphere.
Yep, those are all good summaries of the feelings.
But, what I think keeps us in the Scroggins' debate is that the logic for coming to UT is so very much stronger than the choices that either M. Brown or Orson Charles had. They have as good of a chance at playing and succeeding (e.g. NFL draft) at UGA as they had at UT. Neither was gambling with their career options. As I recall, they both had offers at SC as well, but only Charles showed interests there.
For Jesse, his shot at UT folklore seems about as likely as his shot at ever starting at SC. If he's good enough to start there, he's good enough to help turn our program around.
Here's what it takes for Jesse to start at SC. Barkley will hold that job until Jesse is at least in his 3rd year (that would require Barkley to beat out Corp and then go to the NFL early). Then, the 2011 and 2012 SC class needs to be void of some other superstar QB like MB.
It's just such a high stakes game that isn't necessary for either winning college championships or earning an early draft into the League.
If JS goes there, it's a home loyalty decision. It's not logical. It's not stupid (that would be going to UF). Yet, logic strongly favors UT, else we'd probably have considered him an SC lock long ago.
