There is a article on 3rd Saturday in Blogtober about Bray. It says him and his dad will be in Knoxville for the UCLA game. It also says he might wait until NSD to commit.

Not good, even if we're not looking for a "starter" next year out of this class it would be a huge benefit to our depth just to get a kid in here eligible for the spring '10.

He is not going to announce on signing day. I can tell you that with 99% confidence.

Tennessee's battle for Bray is not with SDSU, it's with distance and other schools that could enter the picture.

If he waits until NSD to commit, I think that's a huge mistake. You really need a QB to commit earlier than that for the sake of recruiting. However, if we land Milton and another top WR to go along with Ambles, it might not matter anyways. I would say if he waits until NSD, Brunetti will be committed to UT by then. Getting Brunetti and Bray, now that would be sweet.

I agree! He needs to understand that if he is serious about Tennessee, making a committment now will help recruit better quality players that he will be depending on once he enters school.

Sale him on Tennessee Coach O!!!

I believe they are just waiting to see if it was just a one time thing. If he continues to perform like this, he will keep moving up...

Just going by the few clips on Tyler that I have seen, he reminds me alot of Eric Ainge. He may move a little better than Eric, but their deliveries are real similar. Tyler stands in the pocket just like Eric!

The Ainge comparison really is one of the better ones for him. The only thing is that Bray may end up growing a few inches though.

Can anyone think of a QB over 6'7?

Notes from his MVP performance at the the Ultimate 100 Camp:

Bray arrived at the nationally prestigious Oklahoma camp on July 25, just a day after finishing the four-day Elite 11 Quarterback in Orange County that invited 12 of the nation's top quarterbacks. At the Elite camp run by quarterback guru Bob Johnson, Bray was second in the staff's MVP standings to Brigham Young commit Jake Heaps. But Bray won the Golden Gun Award for accuracy two of four days as well as the overall title.

PQB Tyler Bray, 6-6.5/190, Kingsburg (Calif.) High
ASSETS: Has excellent height, good touch and a quick release.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Needs to physically mature which should increase an already strong arm and make him more durable.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE AT COMBINE: Came straight from a superb four-day performance at the Elite 11 strictly for the chance to win overall QB MVP, which he accomplished.
CONCLUSION: I still expect San Diego State to be hit from all sides by other colleges for Bray's signature.

This guy is tearing it up...

I think he meant overall QB rankings, not star rankings.

If that is the case, then he is right. Nick was the #15 Pro-Style QB.

I know what he meant. I just wanted to point out that they are not on the same level even though the rankings are close...

Well, I would disagree with that. I doubt that there will be 14 4 star Pro Style QB's when it is all said and done. Also, they are only .1 point difference on their actual rating.

I'm telling you, I really like this kid. He has everything but the mass on his frame. He's improved his 40 time, his footwork has vastly improved over the summer. He's had some good QB tutelage under some darn good coaches in camps this year. Outperformed Jesse Scroggins.

The only real knack on him is that he will take time to develop. He isn't a guy that's going to come in and help you right away. I still think the coaches go JuCo for an immediate answer and get a guy like Bray to sit for two years. I'd be thrilled with that outcome. I honestly don't think not having a QB is going to hurt us that bad with the guys we are pursuing the hardest. We could afford to wait til signing day for him though I honestly don't believe it's going to take that long.

Thing is, this kid is going to get some big time offers over the course of his senior year. We won't be the only name program recruiting him and with a guy like this you always have to be concerned with the distance factor.

I want to say that Mark McGuire had a brother that was like 6'8" or something and he played for Sand Diego State back around early to mid 90's. Tallest QB I've ever seen play.

espn...

Bray will check out the Vols

After his standout showing at the Elite 11 QB Camp a few weeks ago, you can expect Tyler Bray (Kingsburg, Calif.) to attract some national interest and that is exactly what has happened.

Bray committed early to San Diego State but has said he's still open to listening to other programs. One school making a big push right now is Tennessee and the signal caller has set up an official visit to Knoxville.

"Tennessee actually offered me while I was at the Elite 11," Bray said. "That was exciting and I'm very interested in checking them out. I'm taking my official visit (Sept. 12) when they host UCLA.

"I don't know a lot about the school but I know they're a big time program and play in a great conference. I've also heard UCLA might start to recruit me and that was my favorite school growing up but I haven't heard anything from them just yet."

Bray said he would like to take all five of his official visits and could wait until close to signing day before making a final decision. Bray was voted runner up for MVP honors at the Elite 11 and also won the award for Most Upside, as voted by the college counselors at the event.
