'10 CA S Dietrich Riley

We will get a better feel for Riley's recruitment after he takes his official visit. Neyland is an awesome site on game day no matter what team you root for but it's even better if you're a VOL fan. Hopefully the kid will want to come and be a part of it.

I really dont think we get Riley at this point. If he was so hardcore on the Vols there was no real reason for him to not have committed already. The longer it goes with him the more likely hes gonna go elsewhere. Us losing to UCLA and now UW beating USC give him more reason to stay on the left coast.

Agreed

They looked great beating USC, and they have an absurdly gifted QB. I truly believe if Locker was playing for us this year, we would be undefeated. That said, they looked bad losing at home to the only SEC team they faced.

He hasn't even visited UT or met the coaches face to face. To think he would commit now is kinda ridiculous...

I don't know how to post links on here, but we are not even listed by him for a visit! ESPN's West coast blog is my source. UW, UCLA, USC, and the Irish are his visits, with ND and the Trojans being set. The 5th visit is open, but he did not mention us by name. Article posted today by Greg Biggins. I'm just qouting the article. Sorry. GOVOLS!

He will be here for either the Auburn or the UGA game, probably UGA. Those visits to USC and UCLA are unofficials. He said he didn't know if he is going to take an official or unofficial to UW. We will get a visit from him, no doubt...

Hope we get him as well as Shaw, Wright, Stills and Powell. I call em the Cali-Connection. But, that is what the article said. Where do you think we stand with the CC, any shot at all of them?

Just a guess:
Shaw-Ohio State
Wright-Tennessee
Stills-PSU
Powell-USC
:hi:

On the CC, the only one that I could see that we absolutely would make room for is Ronald Powell. I think Riggs is probably the corner on the top of our list and I don't think safety is a big need. If we oversign, we might take a couple of these guys, but otherwise, I think the most interest would be Powell as he could play LB as well as DE/TE.

I hope we can get all the big recruits we can to the georgia game because Jac will be there and is tryuing to get everyone to come then

Most importantly you have none going to Florida. Did anyone else see the article? Is he coming to visit or is he not? We should also add Marsh-Dt and Shirley-Lb to the CC.

Riley visited the campus while the old staff was still in place. He has family in Knoxville. I honestly think there are a lot of signs to support the silent commit buzz, which I believe started back in April.

I really didn't remember him visiting with the old staff, but I knew he has been to Knoxville cuz of family. I do remember when the rumor started. It didn't seem too far fetched and the guy seemed fairly honest...

I'd be interested in seeing if Dietrich could come in and contribute over the next two - 3 yrs on defense with Janzen and Darren Myles already seeing minutes at on Defense & special teams

Talent is talent and you can never have too much.
I hope we Land him.

If we get Riley, I would expect 1 of those 3 to be moved to CB opposite Mike Edwards...

Janzen would be a shutdown CB imo. I just hope Gordon sticks around...

Good deal, I just remember how much Janzen said he liked to hit, but his skill set is prolly tailored more toward a CB so I agree...I dont know, does DR look like a solid option to be a big contributor early, will he need work or what?

Im curious cause this guy has been one of my favorite recruits this year, Id like to have him and would want him to do well.

Physically, Riley is ready to play at this level. When you look at him, he looks like an OLB. Right now, he is 6-1 200. For a reference, Eric Berry is 5-11 203. I wouldn't expect him to be making a huge impact as a freshman, but he will have an opportunity if Berry leaves. If Berry stays, we will return all 4 DBs and he would be hard pressed to find playing time. If Berry leaves, I would guess that Vinson will resume his starting CB role and Rogan will move back to safety. But in '11, there will be 2 starting spots open, and Waggner, Myles, Riley, Edwards, and Gordon would be in a battle for them...
