'10 DE Delvin Jones

just noticed that Rivals has posted a Jones video. He also made the preseason top-100 at #77. I was really surprised to see him that high this early.

Watching him rush off the edge and observing his frame, I'd definitely say he looks more like a big, physical WR than a traditional D-lineman. It was also odd to see someone on the defensive line wearing a #7 jersey.

I'm looking forward to seeing his offensive highlights this fall once his season gets underway.

Athlete Delvin Jones (Miami, Fla./Palmetto) said that he wants to play either tight end or wide receiver in college. The 6-foot-6, 230-pounder is listed in most places as a defensive end prospect and projects best there, but wants to give the other side of the ball a shot in college.

Florida is recruiting Jones as a tight end.

First and foremost he's is big and very smooth/fast. Most physically impressive looking prospect in South Florida this year including '09 and '10 classes.

I've heard that the 20 sacks were not correct, coaches padding them a bit is what I was told. Plus he was at LaSalle HS during the season facing some pretty bad competiton. So the whole "20 sacks in Dade Co." loses it's luster a bit.

He just doesn't seem to have that nastiness, pissed off aggression, or just wanting to turn the game into a street fight you want in defensive players coming off the edge. Leading to many to think TE is where it's at for Delvin.

I can't argue with that, because it's very impressive to watch him run pass routes at his size and realize he's only a JR in HS.

6'6", 230lbs and a 10.7 100m... That's incredible speed for someone that size. For us old folks that's upper mid 9's for 100 yards. I remember seeing Darryl Green and Tony Dorsett run 9.8 100yd in the old superstars competition... Just to put it into perspective..

This guy would be a nightmare at WR..

I agree, he would be a force to reckon with at WR!

So we are in the mix at least, that's good !
I would LOVE to land this guy, he is one of my favorite prospects, He could very well be the most Athletic defensive player in his class.

Has top three of Florida, USC, Oregon.
"All three of them want me to play tight end and receiver," he said. "That's what I want to play because it's a mismatch all day."

Scouts think he needs to stay on the D-line and away from the TE spot. He didn't impress at a recent event.

I remember reading something about Tebow's recruitment but Isn't that what CUM told Jevon Sneed before he signed with Texas?

yeah. Urban's staff also apparently told a prospect this year that they have a 100% graduation rate. :post-4-1090547912:

Miami (Fla.) Palmetto athlete Delvin Jones might be listing a top three of Florida, Southern California and Oregon, but sources say that he's already a silent commitment to the Trojans.

Jones claims offers from schools across the nation, including Michigan, Florida, Southern Cal, Oregon, and Tennessee. He recently picked up a new offer from the SEC.

“I got an offer from Alabama,” said Jones. “That was my last one.”

“Wisconsin and Tennessee have already been by the school,” said Jones.

While Jones came out with a top three of Florida, Southern Cal, and Oregon in recent weeks, it appears he has backed off naming any leaders as of yet.

“I’ve been so busy getting ready for the spring I really haven’t thought about it lately,” explained Jones.

USC out in front with us right behind them.
He wants to play on offense, so that makes me assume that we like him as a big WR target.
