Ferguson is one of the biggest prospects in the 2010 class and already holds approximately 30 offers.

He is projected by many to debut as a 5* prospect.

He told Brian Mohr at HokieHaven.com (Rivals), that he is planning a visit to the University of Tennessee soon. He said Tennessee is getting an early look, because of our new staff.

I should be able to find good info on him during recruiting process. he lives 2 miles from me and one of my best friends played on his team last year. getting a visit from him is good. his teammates arent too good tho. Although its never a bad thing to attract recruits.

that would be great, he looks like an absolute beast, rivals has him as a potential five star, and him having interest without even talkin with the coaches yet should be a good sign

him and jaques on the edges would be great

His measurables look like a DT rather than DE. I'd like a guy faster than 4.9 on the edge. He could add 30lbs in college and be solid in the middle.

Eh kinda. Since he's strongside though, he's not pure pass rush, he's responsible for the run quite a bit. I think that we play him at end mostly, and then probably slide him inside on passing downs and put in a speed rusher. Thats if we get him though.

Anyone know why he goes by Ego though? That doesn't seem like a good sign.

Except if a guy gets the nickname Ego, thats probably not a good sign. I mean, he may be a great kid for all we know, but thats not what you gather when the first thing about him is that he goes by Ego.

It is laughable that anyone on here would not want a kid based on his nickname. How do you know that it isn't his friends making fun of him or something? Like calling a huge dude "tiny". Maybe he's really quiet.

The point is that you guys have no idea.

bumped the OP for a free video. I'm unsure if Rivals may yank this later and make it a premium video. For the time being you can view it without being a subscriber.

Love the answer to his second question---"destroy everybody."

The video also confirms that he visited Tennessee already. I hope the staff is building a solid rapport with him. We could certainly use him.

Quote:
DE J.R. Ferguson, 6-3, 272, Frederick (Md.) St. John's Catholic Prep
ASSETS: Has great feet and agility for a big man and a great motor.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Can lose his balance and lunge too often when trying to elude linemen who extend their arms. Needs to add muscle.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE AT CAMP: His array of pass-rushing moves was very impressive as he's clearly well coached and his burst off the snap was well above average. His feet are so quick and his agility is outstanding.
CONCLUSION: Ferguson is an elite pass rusher already who will only get better once he sculpts his body and adds strength. You can't teach his energy level, motor, quickness and agility.

Now, a rising 6-3, 262-pound junior, the defensive lineman-fullback now finds himself thrust into the limelight after attending three major college off season football camps. Ferguson recently attended the University of Pittsburgh, Illinois, and Maryland camps, and whetted the appetites of college recruiters so well that he was actually offered scholarships by the Illini and Terps.

However, as is the 16 year-old Ferguson’s nature, he plans not to jump at any offer to soon.

‘‘I plan to wait until my senior year to make my decision,” said Ferguson, who is already making plans to major in business management wherever he may land. ‘‘My father (Ego Ferguson, Sr.) has helped to keep me focused, [nowadays]; my mind is in a better place. I can see the vision. I can see what I want to do.”

Said Ward, ‘‘I think J.R. is going to put St. John’s on the map. He has been working on his football skills in the off season and has really matured to take that next step. Not every kid has the drive he has.”

‘‘You can put J.R. anywhere on the football field, and he will be the best player on the field,” Ward said. ‘‘Right now, Pitt is looking at him as a defensive tackle, and Maryland and Illinois are looking at him as a defensive end. But he has two more years to grow. He could come out and be 6-5, 330 pounds and still be a great athlete, because he is a great all-around football player.

‘‘He can play against the run and the pass. On offense he can run, block and catch. On defense, you could line him up at free safety, and because of his athletic ability, he would still be the best player on the field.”

The University of Georgia has also taken note of his athletic ability, inviting him to its camp to begin on July 18.

"I've started researching some schools, but I really haven't decided when I'm really going to cut down the list yet," said Ferguson. "So I really have to get in to it and talk to my father and my mom about it to see what they like, too. The first ones that I researched are ones that I'm looking at their business management program. Of course Cal stands out, North Carolina stands out and UCLA does too. All three of their business management programs stand out to me, and how they balance that and football together."

"I think I'm going to California on [April] 15th, I'll be visiting UCLA, USC and California," he said. "I'm probably going to watch Maryland's spring game, I hope to get to Virginia Tech's spring game, and that's about it. I know on the 7th I'm going home to visit my mother, and I want to take a visit to Florida State and Miami if I can, if I have the time to, but that's all up to my mother."

"Coach Haggins and Florida State did offer me," Ferguson told Warchant.com. "I grew up watching Florida State play Miami and Florida. So the offer means a lot. I just like football down there (in Florida). I grew up watching all three of the schools down there."
"It is kind of overwhelming to have so many options," Ferguson said. "I am basically going to look for the best place for me."
"Location doesn't matter to me," he said. "I want to find the right place for me. I want the best opportunity."

"A place where there is the option for me to play right away," Ferguson added. "I want a good family environment among the players and coaches. I also want a good business management program, because that is what I plan to major in. It also needs to be an environment that I can like if I am not playing football."
