"It was real good," Ferguson said. "I always talk to them on the phone, but this was the first time talking to them in person and getting to know everyone in depth. I got to watch a live scrimmage and see what kind of team they have. It was impressive and I think I might go come back for camp, but I'm not totally sure yet. I loved everything about Tennessee. There were no negatives at Tennessee."
"First of all, it's my real name, the J.R. is for junior," he said. "My mom gave me the nickname "Jr." when I was little and it just kind of stuck.
"Ego is my father's name, my grandfather is kind of different, so I guess it was just him being different."
Other teams high on Ferguson's early list include Tennessee, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Florida State. Ferguson has already been to see the Vols and Tar Heels and came away impressed with Tennessee defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin and defensive line coach Ed Orgeron as well as UNC defensive line coach John Blake. He hopes to visit Oklahoma and FSU sometime this summer.
