With our current DLine class, I wouldnt be surprised in the least if most of the "big name" recruits that remain un-committed and have previously shown interest in us start to drop us from consideration. We have basically 4 Top 150 playes committed on the DL alone, along with the JC transfers like John Brown. Also, most the starters and impact players up front are back in 2010. Its "problems" like that, that I dont mind having at all again.....FINALLY!
ESPNU 150 defensive lineman J.R. Ferguson (Frederick, Md./Hargrave Military) has named 10 finalists, ESPN affiliate Web site InsideMDSports.com reports.
Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, LSU, South Carolina, Miami, Florida State, California and UCLA are left to battle for the highly-coveted senior.
InsideMDSports also reports that early playing opportunity and sticking at defensive end, not defensive tackle, will be two key factors in Ferguson's decision.
"Once you sign on the dotted line, you lose all leverage, so we're seeing who will actually give him that opportunity," J.R.'s father said. "We [also] don't have the desire to redshirt."
Ferguson, rated as the nation's No. 14 defensive tackle, does not have a timetable for his decision.
Last fall he registered 97 tackles and 16 sacks.
Espn• Our good friends at EyeontheTigers.com (LSU) say that LSU has been informed that the Tigers are in the top three for ESPNU150 defensive lineman J.R. Ferguson (Frederick Md./Hargrave Military). The Tigers, Notre Dame and Oklahoma are the teams to beat. We've been hearing Miami is in the mix as well, so those four teams are the safe bets at this point.
officially out of this race...
cPanel®"I kind of opened it back up recently, because coming here (to Hargrave), I was thinking about making an early decision but then I realized there was no rush." Ferguson said.
