Corey Lemonier - Football Recruiting

Scout.com: Corey Lemonier Profile

Corey Lemonier - College Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN

Lemonier is a defender who is capable of leaving blockers and ball carriers feeling bitter. Right off the bat the kid impresses you with his physical size. He is a well put together prospect with ideal type height and while he appears on film to be a pretty muscular kid already he should be able to add more good bulk. He displays good quickness off the ball. He has a nice reach and uses his hands. Against the run he will bring them to maintain some separation from the blocker. He works to play with good pad level and can shed from blocks. You would like to see him more forcefully engage blockers at the point of attack at times and not just bring his hands, but shoot them and generate power from his lower body. Displays a solid feel for the game and does a good job of reading blocks and being able to squeeze down and stay square. He is a solid wrap-up tackler, but will attack ball carriers high. The kid can move and is capable of stretching plays and running them down. He seems a bit high-cut and is at his best when he can stay square and react. He can be troublesome off the edge with his size, quickness, and reach. Will flash the ability to attack the shoulder and can use his weapons to knock down the blockers hands and clear. He is also able to turn into the blocker and bull rush his way back. Lemonier is a very good prospect that brings some good natural tools to the table. In flashes he reminds us some of 2009 end prospect Sam Montgomery. He is probably more further along physically but maybe not as naturally fluid. Either way Montgomery was a fine end prospect and so is Lemonier.

"I really like Florida State, Alabama and Tennessee. They have all come to see me and a bunch of coaches from those schools have been here. Honestly, I want to see a bunch of schools this summer and then narrow things down. I would like to try and see at least six. Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Georgia and Michigan are some I would like to see. Of course, Miami and Florida are still in the mix as well.

That is true. But even you know Miami is losing their grip on SFla. I'm not saying that gran will lock him up, but Kids are not a miami lock like they used to. CUM and CNS can go down there and get kids. And FSU seems like they are going hard after him too. It's anyone's race if you ask me, but I guess my opinion doesn't matter haha.

Let's just say this is in one area (Miami) where I have a little more insight than most on this board.

And I've not seen anything to lead me to conclude that Miami is losing it's grip in Dade County. Broward maybe, Palm Beach you bet.

who is Miami pursuing and losing?

For someone that claims to have more insight into the UM program than most on here you sure haven't provided anything to support that statement. Constantly saying Dade = UM Lock doesn't exactly qualify you as a Cane insider.

Oh, and you don't ask the questions here I do. Who is Miami pursuing and winning? 2009 wasn't 2008 and if you don't think more and more kids are considering venturing out of Dade county you're just fooling yourself.

Just finished interviewing him. I'm writing the story now and should get it up later today.

"While the University of Miami might lead the way in the recruiting race, with assistant coach Wesley McGriff making a lasting impression on Lemonier, there is a long way to go before next February. Tennessee, Alabama and FSU have also jumped into the mix as well."

this kid has become my new most coveted player, from a guy in FL

I still maintain that he is the top player out of florida...over Joyner and over Luc.

I'm not positive, but I think this is a guy that Miami fans have been calling a lock for a long time. I may be thinking of someone else though.

Here's the word on Lemonier from the Rival's mainboard:

Miami fans say he loves Miami, but he wants to play early, and the Canes are loaded with young DL talent so they don't feel too good about him...

FSU fans say they have a very good shot with him (of course they do)...

Florida fans say he is a FSU or UM lock...

All 3 of them laugh when UT is mentioned which leads me to believe they really don't have a clue what's going on...

Florida and Miami fans shouldn't be laughing at UT at all after what happened on and after NSD this year...
