Quote:
What Palardy has become is the most coveted kicker/punter in the country, and while he got off to a slow start this past season with an injury, he heads into the spring with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and the University of Miami.

In a new article, Palardy tells Rivals.com's Barton Simmons that he expects to compete for the starting job of kicker or punter as a true freshman and could do both in college. He doesn't name a leader.

He could probably do that here. Lincoln isn't going to cut it if he doesn't improve, and who the hell is our punter even? Cunningham?

First post..I believe getting a quality kicker and punter should be a top priority right under qb, ol, and dl recruits. I haven't seen any tape on him yet, but from what I have read he is going to be the top kicker recruit. Would love for this kid to be able to do both after a redshirt year. I've noticed how no one's wish list has included a kicker and from what i understand he would def be in my top 7.

He pretty much just said that he's not going to redshirt. He's going somewhere to play as a freshman.

Welcome to the board though.

"As a junior last year, Auburn offered me," Palardy said. "Recently Syracuse, Alabama, Tennessee and Miami all offered me. All of those were sent in the mail to me as official offers."

"I did all of the kickoffs after the second or third game of the season and that was when I came back from my injury. I was 4-5 in field goals and I was 76 of 78 in extra points. I think I was 97 or 98 percent on touchbacks."

I was worried after Lincoln kept getting sent in and missing long kicks during the UCLA game. I don't know if he ever got his confidence back.

"Alabama is just a true football town. In Miami, you have a lot of distractions like clubs and parties or whatever, but the Alabama program is structured and it is all about ball," said Palardy who kicked approximately 97 percent of his kickoffs into the endzone last fall. "I went to some position meetings and from talking to the coaches, there is always something to do."

"Chris Dunkley and Dejoshua Johnson were also there, and they are great, down-to-earth guys. We all felt like we could be comfortable at Alabama," said Palardy. "The dorms were nice, the people were welcoming and there wasn't much not to like. I had people coming up to me, shaking my hand and telling me they hope to see me kicking here next year. Coach Williams made me feel welcome as well. He is a happy, down to earth guy who was just real excited to have us all there."

If he wants to go somewhere without distractions, we can put him in a sensory-deprivation tank six days a week right here in Knoxville.

Michael Palardy told ESPN affiliate CrimsonConfidential.com that he's holding offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Syracuse, Miami, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Minnesota and Auburn.

Palardy also stated that he wants to take three of his five official visits to Alabama, Oklahoma State and Tennessee.

Last season, he connected on three of four field goal attempts and nailed 76 of 78 extra point tries.

Palardy will be on campus June 5th for an unofficial visit. The kicking camp is June 3rd, so it doesn't appear he'll be camping here this year.

He also stated that Tennessee remains in his top-5.

Obviously I would like to go in and do everything. But if there's a school I feel most comfortable going to that wants me to do just punting or kicking, that's fine. Maybe I'll punt for a year then take over the kicking and all the other jobs after that. I just really want the place that fits me best.

Not your average kicker

“LSU will for sure make it,” Palardy said. “I’ve always grown up watching the SEC schools and I’ve always wanted to know what it feels like to play in the SEC. You go to Florida, Alabama, LSU or Tennessee, and I don’t think there are any harder places to play."

Alabama and Tennessee are two other schools that have a good chance of making his top five according to Palardy, and he will be making a trip to Knoxville to explore Tennessee more on June 6.

St. Thomas Aquinas is loaded. Absolutely, sickeningly loaded. I think we can get one or two of those guys too which would be AWESOME because they are just as loaded next year.
