'10 FL LB/DL Christian Jones

I love Monte. If we sent any other coach to visit him, I would say he is going to FSU, but with Monte things change. The staff must really feel we have a good shot at him to seal the deal if we sent Monte.

Sure FSU has the advantage but with Christian's father having been a pro player he recognizes the coaching talent of Monte and what it takes to get to the next level. The BUCs game are on TV here in FL every weekend they play. It is great to watch Monte's D in action with the VOLs now. I would not count the VOLS out....

Or it shows how important LB is in our system and how much we need one or two this year.

Tennessee is a big player with Jones. I think FSU in the end too, but I would not be shocked to see him sign with TN on NSD. He plays from day #1 at TN.

I would really watchout for UF here, especially if he takes a visit in the next couple of weeks to Gainesville.

Still think FSU bound but UF might be making a late play with him.

IF he does, I think he and J.Smith will be starting OLB's. Smith is a tweener...a little too light to be a starting DE in the SEC right now. But it depends on what the coaches needs are. I think if we can get either Lemonier and or Stripling, it would be too tempting to let J. Smith move to OLB (may move back to DE as a Soph or Junior.

I guess it depends on how much weight JS puts on over the next few months. He threw one of the lineman blocking him with one arm...he definitely doesn't lack power and he looked really quick especially on the Baxter tackle. I would worry about him in coverage as a linebacker, but who knows.

once AA gets Jacques in the strength & conditioning program, he'll put on 10 to 15 lbs of muscle before September if not more...Go VOLS!

after the haul at the Army game he said he'd visit this month. we've got playing time up for grabs at linebacker and even more next year. having George Edwards as his position coach could be a draw over Greg Hudson but until he takes that visit i'm also of the opinion he's going to be a Nole.

Got two names for you Lance Thompson and Monte Kiffin...... best of the best at their position.

This is a guy we need to get, I agree he plays from day one!

IF he could start day one at TN as a true freshman, the he is a man among boys. Starting LB as a true freshman in any conf is tough, but the SEC is almost impossible. That would be impressive. I think you will see Reviez back at MLB with Herman backing him up. Savion Frazier, and Lamarcus Thompson at OLB, with Greg King, Jerod Askew, and possibly Michael Taylor backing them up. Christian Jones would make the rotation, but i doubt he starts. JMO

im just new to this site so dont bash me but im facebook friends with christian jones and hes been talking to cody riggs and chris dunkley alot lately. i saw after the Army game he was raving about how strong the gators class was becoming. He was talking to cody riggs and he mentioned he would be in gainsville sometime soon. any truth to that guys?

Is there any recruit in the freaking country UF isn't going to get in your eyes? Sick of all the Florida trolls thinking EVERYONE is headed to Gainesville. You guys have probably the best recruiting class in history--congrats. I'll give CUM and staff their due. But you aren't automatically in it or gonna get every prospect who takes a visit to sign. Just not logical. Be happy with the amazing class you have and don't get too cocky thinking you can't be beaten. The fall can be hard and fast with tons of disappointment. Just look at us from '98 until mid 2000's...

Welcome to VolNation...yes, CJ is making a trip to Gainesville. But, I don't think anything comes of it from what I've heard. It is a 2-way race between UT and FSU with him more than likely headed to FSU. Love to have this kid though--he's a beast...and the best LB in this class. Period.

thank you ljeller. Go Vols.

yeh thats what i think to but the thing against us is his father, seeing thatv he played at FSU.
but i think christian knows we have a better staff and idk what yall think but i think the 4 year probabtion for FSU could hurt them. My thinking is why go to a school well you can go undefeated and it means nothing.

oh i'm sure they are except Kiffin's not his position coach and won't be the primary person developing him. you guys love to throw around the NFL experience. well Lance Thompson has none and George Edwards has been coaching linebackers in the NFL since 1998. plus it's an in-state school

for now I still think he's a Nole

and monte kiffin has been one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL for years

Monte Kiffin>>>>>>>>>>>>>George Edwards

Are you kidding me? Did you look this up on Wikipedia or something? Let's take a straw poll. Who the hell knew who George Edwards was prior to him being hired as DC for UF? Anyone... I didn't think so. So we have Monte Kiffin, one of the greatest defensive coordinators in NFL history and George Edwards the "Father of British ornithology".
