'10 FL OLB Ralph Williams

yes, give Sapp and Crump preferred walk=on status, and get em schollies if they are good, and we have any guys defect........

This would be nice, but realistically these kids probably don't have the funds to attend college without assistance. They should go where ever they can get the free education and play their asses off to get noticed. And even if they do have the funds why pay your own way when you can get it for free?

UT coaches have been told Ralph Williams will be honoring his commitment with Tennessee. This may lead to Delvin Jones returning to the fold, as well. Williams is the reason Crump will not be getting a scholarship offer.

That is freaking awesome news.:rock::rock:

Things are really coming together. I see a few celebratory barley pops in my future tomorrow night.........:)

GBO!!!!!

I doubt we pull Sapp's offer.

You don't think they would if we get Stone, Robinson and/or Glass, and Rogers and/or Ambles??

I know we can go up to 30, but 3 of them would be sign and place. We can't give those 3 any scholly money can we?

This is your make or break prediction/fact/rumor for me. If this is true, I will believe your connection and trust your opinion because this guy seemed like he was a good as gone. Hope you are right here, I would like to have somebody on this board whose opinion/sources are legit and you seem to be a candidate for that.

Agree. I am very skeptical about them keeping Williams.

I still think Williams is Ole Miss bound but I like our chances alot more today than I did yesterday. UT has been in contact with him and Crump has said his scholly has been pulled which would seem to indicate we have another LB coming...

Lets say UT pulls a miracle and lands Rogers and Stone. And somehow Ambles comes. We out of schollies, I hope Williams decommits and Calvin Smith comes but it looks FSU for him. Id rather have Glass than Williams as well. Heck Id rather have McAdoo or Delvin Jones.

Calvin Smith isn't happening, if he doesn't go to FSU it will be Bama.

Being unfamiliar with the 3-4, do you usually run 3 large DT type players or 1 DT with a DE on either side of him?

Ideally...you have a monster plug at NT (Vince Wilfork, etc), and then two bigger, but athletic DEs.

Typically, you want your OLBs to be big, fast guys who can play on hand down in some situations. Terrell Suggs is the prime example.

As for ILBs, it seems like most 3-4s have one lightning fast guy (Lewis, Mayo, etc) and one bigger, stronger run-stopping type.

But you can really mix and match with body types.

Everybody talks about the 3-4 defense like it's a done deal. Why don't we at least wait until we have a D cord before we go assigning starting spots...he may have a little bit of input on what kind of D we actually run.

This staff is not high at all on Glass.

Signing or not signing Delvin Jones doesn't matter. He isn't getting into any D-1 school next year IMO.

No. They dont have to drop anyone. They have room for those 3. They actually have room for 5 more if the right guys were to come their way.

We can only enroll 27. If Williams stays, that makes 25, unless Stanley leaves, then back to 24.

1 WR (Rogers or Ambles) + 2 OL (Stone, Robinson or Glass) would max us out at 27, unless we sign & place some (up to 3).

Robert Ayers was the last UT OL that could have played DE in the 3-4. Even if they wanted to, UT doesn't have the personnel to run the 3-4. Bama IIRC slid some smaller DT's out to DE.

read all of his previous posts....

He really has been spot on.

Oh I agree for sure, but a lot of the other stuff was either obvious or just speculation about some bigger names. The news he just threw out is totally against what EVERYONE was thinking. Williams might change his mind if he actually said that from today to tomorrow, but I think this prediction is The Dooley's big tell. Like I said, I hope he is right and I have nothing against him, he has been spot on so far, just nothing big and off the wall like this.

On NSD? Coaches wouldn't use that against us at all in the future.

We pretty much sold we are losing Stanley??

I think so. Anytime you can offer the chance to not take a class and basically play for a school with just as much tradition, I think it is safe to assume kids would pick not taking the class.

Keeping Ralph will help, but Stanley is going to be a beast... hope he wants to stay close to home and take the class.

I think Kiffin played the system well on that one (don't murder me).

Guys, I'm hearing that Delvin Jones is in Ralph's ear about Ole Miss. Williams hasn't had any other contact with UT's coaches since the phone conversation on Sunday night where he reaffirmed his commitment.

I'm doing some digging into this, but I thought I'd keep you posted on the forever changing world of recruiting. I still expect Ralph to stay true to his word as of two days ago.
