my point is, he didnt even play there, and hes in the pros. miami is a pretty good place to go if you want to be drafted

I think you could amend to say Miami was --- i think the program is in decline with Shannon running the ship right now.

We'll see the team is really young. But it's very talented. Got a feeling they'll surprise a lot of naysayers this year.

Not to disappoint, but Butch Davis has sent alot of talent to the pros, not Miami. Look at the end of the Coker Era. He only sent Kenny Phillips to the first round. Butch Davis made the 2001 Hurricanes.

Miami did not accept Jakhari Gore's commitment, supposedly Whipple doesn't like his skill set

Very strange way to handle a legacy kid like Gore

• Columbus High senior-to-be running back Jakhari Gore (Frank Gore's cousin) said he orally accepted UM's scholarship offer and denied a report it was pulled. Recruiting coordinator ``Clint Hurtt said they would make room for me.'' UM also got oral commitments from Belle Glade tight end Clive Walford and defensive backs Raheam Buxton (Pahokee) and Kacy Rodgers (from Texas and the son of the Dolphins defensive line coach), giving UM 14 oral commitments for the 2010 class.

His recruitment confuses me... I've interviewed him before and he claimed to have offers from everywhere (USC, Florida, Tennessee, FSU, Miami, etc) but none of his profiles list offers from any. I know profiles aren't a great way to determine offers but I would think that they would at least list some. I'm not sure if any of the staffs that offered him would accept a commitment from him (maybe not even UT) with the exception of Boston College.

Why won't they accept his commit? off-field issues?

I think they just want to see what other guys do... Right now it looks like Lache Seastrunk, Michael Dyer, and Eduardo Clements will all take officials and they most definitely in it for Giovanni Bernard. Those four are they guys they want first and foremost IMO.

Gore is a great back, and if he wants to be a Vol, you take him for a couple of reasons....

1. Keep that Florida pipeline gushing. Too important here to not take into consideration.
2. Anything you can take from the U in that area, you take from it. The perception that you can pull recruits from schools that seem to have that player locked down is huge in recruiting.

Couldn't we do the same thing with Bernard? Not sure which one is the superior prospect, but my preference would be Bernard.

Yes, and he would be my preference. You don't turn down any Florida talent that you really don't have to though because obviously the talk down there is about Eddie Gran wanting you to play for UT. You don't want it to turn too many if any down in that area because you need Gran to go in there and be able to accept commits and people continually talk about those commitments.

Agreed. I wonder what the board looks like for RB's and what kind of back the staff is looking for to complement what we already have? The home-run threat guy like Seastrunk, all-purpose type like Bernard or Gore or the a big, physical guy like Keon Williams. Maybe they take the best available, but I think the staff is pretty strategic about these things.
