Buzz up!Georgia landed non-binding verbal commitments from receiver Da'Rick Rogers and cornerback Nickell Robey last summer. Now six days until college football's signing day, there are questions about whether the recruits will ink their letters of intent with the Bulldogs.Rogers, a top-15 prospect nationally by both Scout.com and Rivals.com, took an official visit to Tennessee last weekend along with his Calhoun teammate and close friend, quarterback Nash Nance.
Georgia coaches visited Rogers on Tuesday at school and at his home, but Calhoun coach Hal Lamb said he did not know whether Tennessee coaches will also meet with Rogers this week.
"That's what the problem is," Lamb said Wednesday night. "I'm in the dark when it comes to Tennessee coaches."
"I haven't talked to one Tennessee coach."
Asked if he knew what Rogers planned to do on Wednesday, Lamb said, "As far as I know, he's signing to go to the University of Georgia."
Lamb is the son of Ray Lamb, Georgia's coordinator of high school relations.
Tennessee's new head coach is Derek Dooley, son of former Georgia coach Vince Dooley. Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney is a holdover from Lane Kiffin's staff.
Rogers could not be reached by phone to comment for this story.
"He's just not really talking to anybody," Lamb said. "We had to turn away (Atlanta's) Channel 2 today."
A reporter from the Atlanta Journal Constitution spoke with Rogers on Monday in Calhoun.
Rogers said he was still committed to Georgia, but when asked if he was seriously considering Tennessee, he said "Yeah, potentially."
