The recruitment of Ahmad Dixon (Waco, TX/Midway) has featured a commitment to Texas in February of 2009, a de-commitment and subsequent commitment to Baylor, a de-commitment this week and for a third time, a commitment. The latest program to gain a commitment from the No. 15 prospect in the ESPNU 150 is Tennessee. The four-star prospect made an official visit to Knoxville November 6.
For the Vols, the recruiting combination of native Texan and former University of Texas star Willie Mack Garza and top defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin made the difference after a recent in-home visit.
Dixon is the first Texan in the 2010 class for Tennessee and the 22nd commitment overall. He is the sixth member of the ESPNU 150 to commit to the Vols.
Dixon is currently the highest rated prospect to pick Tennessee, but look for tackle Ja'Wuan James (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett) to make a big jump in the rankings after a terrific week in Lake Buena Vista, Fl. at the Under Armour All-America practices and game.
Dixon fills a huge need at safety in the Vols secondary and is the lone safety committed in the class.
