You people from chattanooga are so crazy. It seems that on the rare occassion the Chattanooga area has some stud ball player the vol message boards are littered with people who know these guys personally, and just bash them. It happened to bowman, demonte, and even some on jaqs page. The hate has got to stop. Support our local studs and hope for their success. Martez is a great kid and will make a great football player. The vols will be better if they get him. And just a little fyi Coach Akins would not stick his neck on the line for any player he felt would not be successful, or would be trouble. I personally know martez and he is a great kid who has caused absolutely zero problem in high school.

lol. Bowman sucks, and that will only be proven while he's at Bama. He can't do anything on 5'8 DB's that barely run 4.8 40's.

Now for Eastland, again I say he has a record. If he's come clean and is better now then maybe we give him a look, but we already have a FB for this class.

At this point I say bring him on, he sounds like a good kid who worked hard to bring his grades up and I for one hope we give him an offer...

I've watched Martez play through both middle school and high school since he's from my hometown. His family life is pretty bad and because of that he got into trouble in his last year of middle school and some more earlier in his high school career. Coach Akins took him under his wing when he became coach at Ringgold and without going into too much detail, coach Akins helped out on the family issues side of things. Martez isn't a saint but he is a hard worker and now that he has gotten older hopefully he realizes that if he keeps his grades up and stays out of trouble in college he might even get a shot at the NFL and some good money one day. He wants to play for an SEC team and hopefully Tennessee, Auburn or South Carolina will take a chance on him since he got his grades and ACT scores up. He basically was a one man team in high school and is pretty tough. He had to be.
