I hope you got some info on his teammate Kyle Prater. He is the WR I want most in this class. And it's always been rumored that since Orgeron is recruiting the Chicago area, the Vols will definitely be in play...

But good job nyc, I like how you are going after big time players who we hardly ever hear from instead of the same ones over and over again...

It was mentioned in ONE amateur article and every liked the news so assumed it to be true. And all the article said was Orgeron was EXPECTED to make a strong run at Prater. There was absolutely nothing to back it up and in no other article/profile has he mentioned being interested in UT or UT being interested in him other than this little ESPN blurb written in March, who IMO is not even a reliable source recruiting wise.

In addition to the schools that have offered, Prater said he is also interested in Ohio State, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.

WRONG...

According to Mike Farrell, the Illinois coaching staff thinks that UT will make a serious run at Prater and current commit Corey Cooper. Cooper is rumored to heavily leaning to switching commitments to ND, but apparently they are more worried about the Vols.

Mike Farrell and Rivals seem to know a little something about recruiting...

I like this kid a lot...and I love Prater - he is going to be an absolute beast. A lot like Julio Jones.

I don't know what amateur article you're referencing, but I saw at least two mentions of Tennessee during this spring. In one article he mentioned possibly stopping by and seeing Tennessee over the summer.

March 9, 2009 quote from an Illinois Prep article--

"I've been talking to coaches from schools like Alabama and Tennessee and they seem to be pretty close to offering me a scholarship."

Rivals

There did seem to be some contact there, going back to the end of February or the beginning of March at the very latest, if not earlier.

Of course I'm just trying to catch you up, by the way. :hi:

If you read my quote from ESPN, very similar to the ESPN quote, only 8 days earlier than ESPN. The amateur article i was referring was a Tony Basilio article a while back. And, Vader, if you notice i made the "not interested" comments before Mike Farrell posted that on the main board. I now digress, he is interested in us but up until what Mike Farrell said today about him being offered, there was very little talk about him considering us, and IMO not substantial enough for us to think we had a shot a him. But now we can put this whole thing to rest and can agree that he has been offered and is interested in us.

Hopefully, we can all be friends again. :)

The Mike Farrell stuff that I posted came from March...

My bad I thought you were referring to the pinned thread Farrell has on the MB. The quote from Farrell in March is almost word for word the exact same as the Tony Basilio article i mentioned earlier though...

Vols super recruiter Ed Orgeron is recruiting the Chicago area for Tennessee, and he is expected to make a strong run at Cooper and Prater

All articles that mention Prater and Tennessee came from March FWIW... There was no mention before March/ After March of Prater being interested in Tennessee up until now.

Correct, therefore it's always been rumored that the Vols would make a run at him. And by the looks of today, it is starting come true...

Those two would be a great pull. Prater is going to be a stud in college. Cooper looks to be really good too. BTW, i love all the big safetys we are going after.

Cooper is big. He told me he was at 6-2 202 and benching 315. The full story should be up shortly.

Thats great nycvol. Noticed he said they produce great DBs. Thats one of the first times i have heard that come from a recruit. EB is already paying dividends.
