yeah, but without EB we are not big on the minds of DBs. EB is makin kids think about ut. and then they find out about them. We do have a rich history in DBs, but EB is bringing that history back for everyone to see.

Once again my brother told me this kid is high on the Irish, but many people on the Illini boards are worrying if he visits UT it could be trouble. The admin over there says Cooper will end up an Illini, but he just wants to take visits to be certain. But right now its the Illini(obviously), with the Irish behind and supposedly UT could be a big player since he isnt high on zona or stanford.

"I like how he challenged Kyle Prater early on in one on ones," Crabtree said. "Prater got the better of him the first rep, but Corey came back and got a stalemate on the second rep. I like that when someone is that competitive to seek out the best player at the event. He is a safety prospect, he is not going to line up and man on man coverage against an elite receiver all that often. But I liked his eagerness to compete."

From Michael Crabtree...

"I'm still not in a real hurry to make my final college choice. I'm still looking hard at Stanford, Missouri, Tennessee, Illinois, Notre Dame and Arizona. I'm planning to take some official visits before I make my final college choice. I won't be able to make any official visits until after the season is over. We play a lot of Saturday games this fall so I won't be able to get out to make any visits. I want to make at least a few official visits before I decide."

From July 20th. Sounds like he's no longer committed to Illinois.

Anything new on this kid? is he still wavering? If we get him then theres one more of Praters friends that is a vol.

Some combination of Cooper, Prater, Milton, Fulton, etc--there might be someone I'm forgetting--would be quite a haul from Illinois. I say we get end up with three out of the four.

I think we'll either get 2 of them (Fulton and Milton) or all 4 of them. Most likely the former at this point though.

Getting all 4 of em would be a haul to say the least. Beating the Zooker at recruiting is tough.

Outside of Joyner, this kid is my favorite DB prospect that we're going after.

Interviewed him earlier today and good news for Tennessee...
“My favorites out of those (the schools he's still considering) I would say are Tennessee and Arizona. At Tennessee they got a new staff but I like coach Kiffin and he’s young and I like the energy. I can see myself playing there."

“I’ll wait till the season start to take some officials. For sure I want to take some to Arizona and Tennessee but those are the only two I know for sure.”

If Cooper comes how can Prater say no? Cooper is a great prospect in his own right anyway.

Remember Zook lost his absolute best recruiter in Mike Locksley who got the job at New Mexico State I believe. He has been with Zook since he became a college head coach and he has always been the main reason why Zook recruited so well at Florida and Illinois. I think they replaced Locksley with a guy from Cincinnati who in my opinion is a very poor recruiter. I think the state of Illinois is there for the taking. Tennessee is really not that far and it is the closest "big-time" SEC school. So for kids in that area looking to get away from the Big 10 it is a very intriguing option. Cooper would be a great addition.

If we can end up landing Cooper and Prater then Illinois needs to be considered a pipeline. That would be like 4 out of the top 7ish (forgot what they were ranked) players in the state (after Fulton gets his 4th star).

I dont know how those guys are ranked right now but Fulton is a Top 3 guy in Illinois easily. If James Stone is the #91 prospect in the country then Fulton hands down belongs in the Top 50 somewhere. He was night and day more impressive than every other lineman at camp a few months ago.

This is for anyone of the guys in the know: Sab, LV, MH . . . but do you think Cooper is behind Riley on their board? I still think we could swing him with Milton and Fulton on board. I think he could be just as good as Riley. I would love to have him in orange!

riley is better.. and most likely ahead of cooper on our board. Swinging him would depend on Ill season, our season, and who we get at safety.
