I figured Riley was our first priority, but since USC seems to be pressing, I would figure that the Cooper recruitment will heat up again.

+1

We need to keep an eye out for Cooper. He seems pretty solid to Ill. but there are alot of problems there. Juice is being benched this week. Doesn't look like the same team as the last few years.

Cooper, who will also visit Illinois on Oct. 30 and Arizona on Nov. 21, said he has remained in close contact with the Notre Dame coaching staff.

"I talk to them about once a week," he said. "Usually it's coach (Rob) Ianello and coach (Corwin) Brown. They are really cool."

In addition to the three schools he'll officially visit, Cooper said he's also interested in Tennessee.

"Those are the only ones I'm really focused on right now," he said. "They are all still about the same."

Rivals, says Prater may also make it to ND vs USC with him this weekend.

New article on Scout talking about he's 50% commited to Illini and looking around. Can any Scout subscribers summarize and post the info? Thanks ahead of time.

It depends on what happens with Elam and a few other prospects, as well as what happens with Janzen. We probably take 2-3 DBs and one or two will be safeties. Elam is at the top of the safety list followed by Dixon. I think we would take both of them. I would think Cooper is behind Elam/Dixon/Riley and maybe another safety or two. I also think that we really want Demetrius Wright but he'll be a CB. Cooper can play both but I see him as a safety.

Cooper really reminds me of a Big Ten player after watching his film. Even though he's a good player and could probably fit in anywhere I think he'd fit in better up in the Big Ten with his style of play.

Cooper is one of the few safeties we are recruiting who I think would be a Linebacker if he ended up at Tennessee. I agree as a safety he is more suited for Big 10 type football.

how do we stand? i think he could be a valuable commodity. A safety who could be a mean linebacker if we need it. great speed, good tackler, just needs to learn to use leverage and push defenders back opposed to letting them move forward.
