It may be a stretch, but if this is one of his constant plugs to recruits, then he may be pushing the lines of the separation between church and state. Richt is an employee of a college that receives both local, state, and federal monies. If, as a employee of that institution,he is representing certian religious views while in official duties for that institution, he would be in violation this provision. If he is doing it outside his official duties, then he is free to do so. Any thoughts?
separation of church and state deals only with the institution of the state presenting one religion as superior (or inferior) to others...the right of public officials and state employees to espouse their own personal beliefs is allowed as long as those beliefs in no way can be viewed as detrimental to any other religion...ie richt using God as a recruiting tool is allowed as long as he doesn't say that his God is superior to all others and doesn't allow athletes of other faiths to openly practice their religions. it's not unsimilar to a politician stating that he is a christian during the campaign trail, it serves more as a show of character than a championing of any particular religious doctrine. that being said i think that richt is a douche who is preying on the spirituality of teenagers for his own benefit.:the_finger:
