“I think they are the two best players in the country at their position,” head coach Efrain Martinez said. "David (Mahony) is the best defensive lineman in my opinion. He’s 6-2, 300 pound and he has been clocked with an 11.3-100. You don’t see that with a 300 pound guy.”

LAPC - [ Athletics ]

This is a link his JUCO's roster. He graduated in 07-08 and will be a JR when he takes the field at a D-1 school. He has put on alot of weight in a short amount of time to go from a 230-250lb HB/LB to a 300lb DT. Sounds a bit like Marlon Walls...

This guy looks like a good player from info I have seen. I just worry that we are getting to heavy on Juco DL. We need a couple of HS DT's. I know we have Broussard but reports seem to think he will not make it in or at least has alot work to do. We need at least one more IMO from the HS ranks. Then three or four HS kids in the next class.

does anyone think with the NFL influence we are building something big on the DL. We have big guys all along the line, similar in size to alot of NFL programs. I dont see many 6'5 215 220 guys on the line in the future. Could we line up with two DTs that are 295-335 and then have two large DEs in a 6'4 245-260 mold. Although alot of beef on the line, it is similar to a NFL sized line. If we had speedy backs and linebackers, and the DL eat up the blockers it could work in most situations, but i worry about the spread that FL runs.

Why do you guys think we are going so hard after JUCO players this year, especially on the lines? I guess I can understand it on the O-Line, cause we need guys there who can come in a contribute immediately.....but it seems on the D-Line we should be able to pull our fair share of highly talented high school players.
