Who, in particular, do you think?

Heck, I dunno. I am no coach. Harris' name keeps getting talked about as moving to the OL. There will be some guys on the team now who will be moved to the OL as well...

This staff loves the smaller, quicker guys on the OL, and that's what all of these guys are...

yea here is the problem with that, i dont think this staff recruits these kids to "switch" them. i think they recruit for a particular position they wont make a natural DT a lineman that is such a waste. these guys are going to recruit O and D lineman to be just that. that is negative recruiting when you sign a guy to be a DT and then switch him to Oline. i dont like that at all

No, you are wrong. That is exactly what Orgeron does. In Meat Market, Orgeron talks about how you make good OL by converting DL. He says he learned it from Jimmy Johnson at The U. You stock pile a bunch of DL. Some of them stay on the DL, and some of them are converted to OL. Orgeron believes that the better athletes are found on the DL. This staff wants athletes on the OL like Douglas instead of the huge, space fillers like Brimfield...

please please for the love of god no. no more Dlineman please. WE DONT NEED ANYMORE. i feel great about the people we already have i dont want any of those guys to decommit for this guy? i understand that people want alot of depth but thats not good for the athlete. if they are all playing at a really high level and they all rotate snaps at DT then they wont get many snaps at all. all that practicing for a few snaps? i mean holy crap we are going to be overloaded on the dline we are only losing what 2 dlineman this year? once again WE DONT NEED ANYMORE

Gotta disagree here...the dlineman that will play next year will be gone in 2 years...(exception of hughes). And who knows about Jeffrey or Sykes. Walls could be a good one but he hasn't played interior dline that i know of. I think getting Quarles is more of a need than a luxury.

Who, LV? Arthur Jeffery is the only guy I see that could possibly be better on the OL than the DL.

I think you're reading way too much out of that one passage in Meat Market -- which for the life of me, I cannot find, but it doesn't say exactly what you are saying. Orgeron does not purposely recruit DL with thoughts that they could end up on the OL.

no no no bad negative recruiting to switch a guy after they recruit him for dline. mark my frickin words NONE of our commited Dline prospects will switch to OLine. its just not gonna happen. and the one you are thinking of switch pat harris? he is a JUCO with only 2 years left why would they switch him to OLine and make a project out of him that is so pointless he wouldnt play

You're probably right on Pat Harris, he'll figure into the two gap rotation hopefully, but one or two of our guys could certainly turn into offensive linemen and they don't have to currently be defensive tackles.

who are you thinking? cuz i dont see it with any of them, this staff is too good not to recruit enough depth at a position and then have to switch them

The thing is, yes they are good enough to recruit depth, but that depth will not be here for another season or 2. We lose everybody on the OL pretty much. We will return a starter with Shaw and a part time starter with Douglas. Then what? We have no center. We have Pope and Brimfield at guard, but they don't appear to be able to play on this level. Schofield, Revis, and Hood probably won't be ready, they are redshirting this year so that should tell you where they stand. Thomas looks like he will be solid in the future but he will only be a sophmore. It's going to be VERY difficult for an incoming true freshman (Robinson, Stone, James, etc.) to be ready to play on the OL in the SEC. There are rumors that McNeil might could gain a 6th year of eligibility, but he can barely walk, much less play football...

We are going to need help now, or our 6-7 200lb QB is going to be snapped in half. 1 or 2 of these JUCO DL guys could be able to provide depth on the OL. They would be coming onto campus more mature and ready to play at this level than most of the guys we will have on the OL. Don't get me wrong. They might all stay on the DL, but if we get Mahoney, I think 1 of them is moved to the OL...

We will need much, much, much more help on the OL next year than the DL. That is why it is imperative that we get some JUCO or Prep OL (Moses, Cullen, Curry, Gayden) who are better suited to come in and contribute right away...

Moses and Cullen in this class.
JaWuan James to grow on.

I thought you were the one saying Jose Jose using that EE time to be ready to be a center?

um no you are wrong freshman CAN come in play on the Oline. Look at UCLA their LG and LT are true freshman and they did fine against us and were an SEC team. No one from the Dline will switch to Oline just to add depth that is so sensless we would be wasting their talent and their eligibility

Yea I've always thought Pope would move back there. Maybe Hood, but that would be tough. Who do you think?

At this point, I'd just wager a guess and say Pope. Hood is a smart guy though, and if he can learn the position that's a real good possibility.

You sir are cracking me up. The LT from UCLA was the only true freshman, and I wouldn't say they did "fine" against us. We were on Prince all game with a rush, sacked him twice, got a safety, and kocked Prince out for 4 weeks. Not to mention that we held UCLA to 2.4 yards per rush...

Please tell me how many true freshman are starting in the SEC. No wait, I'll go ahead and answer that for you. ZERO. There is not a single true freshman starting in the SEC. I can only find 2 redshirt freshman who are starting: some guy for USCjr. and Aaron Douglas who will be making his first start this week at UT. It's just too difficult for true feshman to come in and play immediately on the OL...

no tard boy hasiak is a true freshman and he started against us. IT CAN BE DONE and they showed it. were always talking about early playing time so these guys are gonna coach em up and put them on the field

If you don't have something to add to the recruiting discourse, then I suggest you go elsewhere. "Tard boy" isn't going to cut it.

And Vader is right in his argument. While not impossible, it is very hard to come in to the SEC and start as a true freshman on the Line. It happens, but it is a rarity. :eek:k:

If any of the OL recruits come in and start it will be a Juco. True freshman are just not physically ready most of the time. You are not going to make to many friends coming in here with an attitude and calling people names. Grow up!

Could Brimfield be a center? I like Pope though as well. Pope would be a big athletic center.
