'10 MN OL Seantrel Henderson

If any of you actually read up on him, he told scout and rivals and espn that he wasnt gonna sign anything untill the USC investigation was over or untill he heard the punishment. And that was a descision made by his dad. So he might have not signed the LOI it might just say that. His dad was actually smart and waited. It shows that his dad was smart cause he wants his son to go to a prep school now.

Im pretty sure it was a financial aid agreement. But, I think he hasnt enrolled yet. Which means he can transfer without penelty.

I;m pretty sure he signed an LOI, it was just a good month after national signing day but before the end of the signing period.

If they were just grant in aid papers then none of this would be newsworthy, he would be free to do whatever he wants, because it's not binding.

Shooter Now: Southern Cal coaches make pitch to keep Seantrel Henderson - TwinCities.com

When heralded football signee Seantrel Henderson from Cretin-Derham Hall didn't show up as scheduled last week for orientation at the University of Southern California, new coach Lane Kiffin, recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron, offensive line coach James Cregg and top assistant Monte Kiffin took a private jet to the Twin Cities on Monday to make sure the 6-foot-8, 330-pound left tackle still was committed.

In the wake of NCAA penalties to USC that include no bowl appearances for the next two seasons, as well as the loss of 30 scholarships over the next three years, there has been conjecture that Henderson has reconsidered his commitment to USC and that Miami and Ohio State could be back in the hunt.

Reached Tuesday, Henderson's father, Sean, had no comment, and Seantrel, who some day could be a first-round NFL draft pick, did not return phone messages.

It's definitely not GOOD for USC, but I honestly don't see what SH's options are unless he's ok with going to JUCO for a year, which I hope he does. However, he's going to be an NFL'er in 3 years so I don't think JUCO would be a viable option for him.

Time will tell.

No, he still would have to be released.

and if he doesnt get release, he'd have to sit out and take a Red Shirt yr or go the prep school route.

That is what I thought as well. I dont know where some of the media outlets get such mis-information... Terrible reporting.

In all fairness, if the quoted portion is from bleacher report, then they did say he could be released and not that he could just do what he wanted.

It is from Bleacher Report.

It states exactly, verbatim, not quoted out of context what I put. I'm not sure where you're getting that from.

Here is the whole article.

It's been a rough day for USC.

The most successful team in college football history has been slapped with sanctions that will force the university to vacate its Orange Bowl national championship win and 2005 season, give up 30 scholarships, and miss out on the postseason for the next two years (pending appeal).

But that's not all facing the 2000's most successful program.

A stipulation in the NCAA's ruling allows juniors and seniors to transfer away from the program to a D-1 school without needing to sit out a year. NCAA bylaws also allow new recruits who haven't enrolled to be released from their letter of intent.

How many of USC's current and soon-to-be roster will exercise those options and get out while they can?

Click through and find out.

That said, I believe I4Jay over Bleacher Report. Which is why I said to begin with *if this is accurate*.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that is a factually INCORRECT statement by Bleacher Report.

According to I4Jay, yes. I didn't misquote the article though. It says that if he hasn't enrolled yet that he can be let out of his LOI (see the article I posted from the MN newspaper site saying he hasn't enrolled yet) .

I know you didn't misquote them, but that is a factually incorrect statement on their part.

I've never heard anything of the sort being in the NCAA bylaws.

Now it is a sanction the NCAA could impose on a school I'm sure, but they didn't do that in USC's case.

I know! That's why I said "if they were correct". I've heard that Bleacher Report was questionable in the past.

I was referencing the other guy that said I misquoted the article.

As he still would have eligibility left when the bowl ban ends, he is not free like the juniors and seniors. He would need to be released by USC to attend college elsewhere this year.

However, it's been going around since a day or so after the sanctions were announced that Henderson would be going to prep school. By going that route it his 2010 LOI would be non-binding. IIRC he could enroll at another college as early as January. If not he definitely could enroll before the next season starts as a true freshman.

Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the only reporter who seems to have anything new on five-star OT Seantrel Henderson these days, now says that the "latest word" on Henderson is that he definitely wants out of his letter of intent to USC and that he is leaning toward Miami. Wherever he ended up, Henderson would have to sit out a year as a transfer unless he is released from his letter, which the Trojans are highly unlikely to do.

You'll recall that his family indicated a preference for a warm-weather location, since they would be moving wherever Henderson went. Henderson also is very similar to (and friendly with) Minnesota Vikings OT Bryant McKinnie, who played at Miami. And Randy Shannon's recent contract extension no doubt made the Hurricanes even more attractive.

There are also a lot of rumors floating around that Henderson is not yet academically qualified, which could give him an opening to go the prep school route before matriculating at another college in January -- but that would also necessitate sitting out this fall.

Regardless, it does appear that Henderson no longer wants to be a Trojan (despite what being in L.A. would do for his father's widely rumored rap career). The only question is how long it takes him to make his next move.
ESPN
Lol.

i'll bet anyone this kid is a bust and/or doesn't qualify. the biggest pains in the ass are never worth it.
