espnwhen new notre dame coach brian kelly was brought in, he fired the large majority of charlie weis' staff including quarterbacks coach ron powlus.
And with that, notre dame's top qb recruit, andrew hendrix, softened his commitment to the irish and made a second visit to south bend to see where he stood with kelly. John rodenberg, hendrix's high school coach, told wbst2, "he certainly had a nice visit. I think he got some things answered."
still, this isn't the resounding 'yes' irish fans were hoping to hear. And there is reason to be worried, because prior to all the coaching drama, hendrix told the cincinnati enquirer that he was talking to powlus every day. And it was probably for good reason, because nfl-bound qb jimmy clausen credited powlus with helping him get to this level.
So hendrix may have been waiting to see where powlus landed, but powlus may be heading to akron -- a place hendrix is unlikely to go.
If hendrix opens up his options again, he may look at some schools he previously considered, including ohio state, tennessee, miami, wisconsin and cincinnati, kelly's old school. (if he becomes a bearcat, cue the epic storyline.)
where is this from?2. SCARY GOOD, PART II: Okay, if you’re like me, then you’re saying “be still my beating heart.” Well, here’s something else to think about. On campus this weekend are quarterback Andrew Hendrix of Cincinnati Moeller, who is a Notre Dame commit, and Dietrich Riley of La Canada, CA St. Francis, one of the best safeties in the country. I believe the Gators are going to land offensive lineman Morgan Moses (Fork Union Military Academy) and Hicks, who is the best linebacker in the country. Throw in Hendrix and Riley and this might very well be the best recruiting class top to bottom that anyone has signed in the last TWO decades. Reports of Florida’s demise are GREATLY exaggerated.
heard the same about Sharrif Floyd too.Gators aren't getting Hicks.
heard the same about Sharrif Floyd too.
it's down to Texas and Florida. like another poster said his mother loves Texas but still really likes Florida. Hicks loves Florida and its players but still really likes Texas.
It's close but Texas should have the edge right now but when Meyer takes an in-home visit I have a feeling it'll swing the other way.
