'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

I never really understood why players want to keep commitments silent. Do they just want to have other schools still give them attention?

Usually it's not the players, it's the coaches. The coaches don't want some players to announce that they are committed because they are looking at other options for the same position and don't want the commitment to hurt their chances of getting other players. Another reason is so that they can save commitments to build momentum for when they are getting some negative coverage or their recruiting is slowing down. Pete Carroll is famous for this...

Me neither, because you be a part of the program or not. You make a decision, let everyone know, and then focus on your football season if it is still ahead. All this hooplah about press conferences and silent commits has to be frustrating to coaches. I mean look at what it does to fans, but coaches have to be sure so they know who to go after. Also at this point I think UT needs it public to get other recruits. Think about it if big time recruits commit now now matter how the season plays out other recruit should come on board if the names aren't out there then other recruits will look elsewhere thinking no big time prospects are looking.

That makes sense to me. Like if say Cobbs is silent and the coaches think they still have a good shot at Prater. It just sounded like Cobbs was going to pick a school and silent commit, as in it was his choice to be silent.

The insane thought of getting Ambles, Milton, Cobbs, and Prater isn't really that crazy anymore. I think we end up with Cobbs, and even if we dont get Prater theres always Reese, Hunter, Phillips, and maybe Dunkley. We're gona pull a spectactular WR class

if cobbs is silent it is most likely to keep the ou fans off his back...they are particularly vocal about instate talent that they want going to out of state schools.

I know him very well, and OU isn't an option. When I asked what he though about his Bama visit he said "it was good to get out of oklahoma". He's down to three schools, can't say who they are though. Tennessee is obviously one of them.

Orson Charles and Marlon Brown should be pretty good....

I didn't list freshman because we won't know, but I doubt Marlon Brown does anything in college for a few years even though they only have 6 scholarship WR's. He needs time to adjust to college football before he does anything meaningful IMO.

Orson Charles will be good once he picks up the offense. Georgia always has good TE's so I wouldn't be surprised if he is ALL SEC his final 2 years there.

If I was to make a guess I would say his top three schools are UT, LSU, and UA. I honestly believe he is SEC bound.

You are incorrect. I doubt he sees the field in any meaningful way this year unless there is an injury or two.

Brown will play this year. He'll probably be the No.3 by year's end. But think about the GA receiver corp by Green's junior year. Green, Brown, Charles, T.King, and the phenom Rogers. I don't care what some of you say those guys will be hard to stop. Also Georgia usually does pretty good with QBs. So with that said I'm glad we signed all of those DBs last year.

And actually bama gobbled up a lot of offensive recruits this past year we wanted.

So what, Georgia pulled the recruit that all of volnation wanted. And they pulled two type players we wanted QBs. Also Orson Charles was on our want list. Yeah you forgot about those guys didn't you.

Question: And what does UGA do with all that talent they get?

Answer: Underachieve

It's a good thing 2 of them are enrolling January... :dance2:

Speaking of early enrollees, isn't there a rule about back counting them if you didn't use your allotted 25 scholarships for the previous class? Anybody know how many people we could back count and how many total signees we could take this year? At least I think I read something about that, could be dead wrong. Thanks in advance to anyone who has the info. :hi:

Ambles, Milton, and Cobbs would be an awesome hall. Too bad it's July. :banghead2:

The great thing about all this is that WRs are Kiffin's specialty. A lot of people say that he wasn't responsible for Leinart and the QBs, but he was directly responsible for all of those WRs.

Elite WRs can make an average QB look above average as well. We have a BRIGHT future. I love it.

Good point. People forget that Leinart was only a 3*.

No, you are right. There is definitely back-counting, but it depends on how scholarships we have on campus. You are only allowed to have 85 scholarship players. With Morley, Abrams-Ward, Creer, etc. being dismissed, we definitely have some extra scholarships to hand out. I'm not sure how many, but if I was estimating, the count would be around 30. Probably more...

LWS is the guy for this question...

Like i said the other day, Milton would commit, the coaches felt good about Cobbs and Prater, and that they were recruiting Munchie hard. From what I hear Prater has told the coaches that he wants to be a VOL too.

If you're yankin' my chain.... I'll sock ya. :p
