DeMarco Cobbs calls the Trojans his No. 1 school
Under Armour All-American athlete DeMarco Cobbs told ESPN affiliate Web site WeAreSC.com, "I talk to USC a lot, and right now they're my number one school. They have great academics, they put guys out to the league (NFL) every year and I have a lot of family out there."
He added, "I like the fact that they produce big receivers. I watched guys like Mike Williams, Dwayne Jarrett and Patrick Turner accomplish big things. They also recruit the top players, so I'll be surrounded by top players."
The ESPNU 150 Watch List talent is holding additional scholarship offers from top programs across the nation including Auburn, Arkansas, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU and Florida.
I like the way Tennessee has talked about using me as a receiver and some in the backfield catching short passes and getting a chance to run.
"I was very excited when I got the offer, because I was about to make the cut from about 30 down to 10 schools," he said. "The schools are, in no particular order, USC, Arizona, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, FSU, Georgia, LSU and Auburn. Georgia and Florida State are the only schools in my top ten I have not spoken to yet."
"I do not have a particular desire to play in the SEC, it was just a coincidence that six of my top ten are from there. Location is not a factor for me in the process really," said Cobbs.
“I don’t have a leader but if I did have a leader it would be USC,” he said. “They are like my No.1 school right now."
“USC is really showing me a lot of love,” he said. “They came by, so I liked that. Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and Oklahoma were some of the other schools. The schools just tell my head coach that I am still one of their top priorities, so I know that doors are open for me.”
