'10 OL T.J. Leifheit

I know I say this about every player. But how in the world could you choose North Carolina after their season this year. They are abysmal at best. I know UT isn't exactly rocking the polls, but at least their is some positive light on the future. Don't know if you could say the same about NC. Plus, in the end, all they care about is basketball anyway.

You grow up there.

Also Hurst and Leifheit are both smart and UNC is considered a much better school than UT academically. If they want to work in the state of NC after they finish playing football that degree means more. Politics or whatever the door is closed in the areas they are from if they go to UT (unlike Heath Shuler who lives in a part of Western NC that is heavily orange).

How does Vandy get anyone? Some guys look down on the school where we graduated.

You have eliminated our chances of getting James Stone because he is the same way as well.

I don't know why any football recruit would want to go to a basketball school, but oh well. NSD is still a couple months away

This is a huge surprise to me. He visited us twice and seemed like he was really interested and UNC is terrible this year. I can't believe he would visit them and they beat Georgia Southern and he would commit.

Do you guys think he did this because CLK told him he didn't want him or something?

no, i think he realizes that with 3 massive OL guys coming in this weekend, that he is going to have to compete against the best OL in the country to play here......and at UNC, he gets to play right away, bc/ they suck.......:eek:lol:

I've never understood the whole "He's scared of competition" or "Why would he go to _____ over UT,they suck".You may not believe this but UT isn't for everybody and bashing a guy because he doesn't come here is just a little bit ridiculous. If someone doesn't come here so be it, it just gives a guy that wants to play here an opportunity. And BTW in case anyone has missed the last couple of years we're not exactly winning national titles ourselves and a lot of other people think we suck just so you know.

The lure of the home state school should never be overlooked.....unless its a great player from memphis.

Its hard to use the "he is afraid of competition" thing with O linemen. There are four spots he could play since he prob wouldn't play center, but we don't have so many guys that he couldn't get on the field.

I don't think it's over with this kid.. We are still second in his mind and will remain in his ear till NSD.. We'll see..

If you are looking for academics UNC will top most SEC schools with the exception of Vandy. Also Butch Davis is an excellant recruiter, but he hasn't kept the best instate players home for 2010.

The other thing the staff at UT might have pushed him out the door. We have had several recruits as fans have been really excited about from reports and camps and lead for them. Next we see them sign somewhere else to find out we had someone higher on the board come in. The staff might have some higher prospects now looking to come on board. Things change not just for the players but the coaches as well. It might be a good sign of some other recruits getting ready to commit.

I didn't want him anyways! just wait until he meets berry across the middle!..... assuming berry stays another year, this kid starts as a true freshman, we play UNC in a bowl game, and he for some reason ends up over the middle... it could happen!

Guys we slow played this kid because we have better on the board and he went ahead and jumped at UNC who needs OL to. He's a very good drive blocker but not very athletic which is why UT held off a bit. I think they were never decided on where he would fit in as far as position wise. He's a step or two slow for tackle but not really athletic enough to pull. Nothing to do with the 'allure' of Davis or the instate school in this case.

I think we are on the same wavelength. :good!:
