'10 OL T.J. Leifheit

2 visits in 3 weeks... one on his own dime. Sounds great. UNC is playing Ga Tech in Atl today. Go Ramblin Wreck.

Has anyone cofirmed if this kid is coming or not today? LV, heard anything new? If he does its got to be a good sign.

I haven't heard anything about him coming in. JB has hinted that he thinks we have a better shot at him than most people think...

I just dont get the whole idea of "silent" commitments. What does either have to gain from this? If its to keep from "scaring off" other players at that position, it still doesnt make sense. They will find out sooner or later and de-commit then.

Rob Lewis confirmed that Leifheit was at the game. He spoke to Leifheit, and TJ described his visit as "outstanding."

Hey Sab and LV, do you think our chances have improved with him over the last couple of days or do you still think he is most likely to end up at UNC?

I think to get a return visit this soon after his official, that his OV must have gone better than I at least, initially thought. I'm not ready to predict us as his leader or anything, but it sounds like we are in this one.

It is my understanding that since the Scroggins/Hendrix recruiting debacle earlier this year that the coaching staff are only giving written scholarship offers when a player is ready to commit. Offers go public after a written one is received by a player. Kiffin feels like he was burned after other schools jumped on the bandwagon with those two guys. This would give credibility to the silent commit rumors. I don't think they are silent commits, just maybe have verbal offers. It is a change in recruiting tactics. It also makes since from what I read in Meat Market. I know Orgeron lost a running back to Mississippi State because of this. Florida schools started looking at the same running back after Orgeron offered. It also makes sense with trying to get as many of these guys in for spring practice that way they don't have to babysit these guys till Febuary.

I like how the staff encourages current commits to come to as many home games they can to recruit and get comfortable with the place they will play for the next few years.

It also helps to have guys on the fence come in multiple times to know that this place is for real and not fake.
