'10 SC OL Marquis Pair

Must be eating buckets of fried chicken.

I don't understand why our lineman are so light. With their frames and collegiate S&C and access to massive quantities of food, there's no reason why these guys can't pack on 30+ lbs of quality lean muscle mass in an offseason. Anyone coming in as a 260 lb Freshman should easily be 290+ by beginning of Sophomore year.

That simply isn't possible.

But you simply cannot gain 30 lbs of muscle -- pure muscle, in the span of an offseason. It can't be done.

I think you will be hard pressed to find someone who does it yes, I think it's more realistic that you probably gain a max of 20 lbs in that time frame.

The average male body can create between *0.25 and 0.50* pounds of dry muscle tissue per week. That's 2-3 lbs being generous. It would take 10 months to put on that muscle and that's if you're really lucky.

Can't be done in an off-season.

If he doesn't play, it can be done, IMO. If he does play, no way no how can it be done.

c'mon man. anybody can gain 30 pounds in an offseason. just eat a bunch and work out a bunch and, presto, 30 pounds of pure muscle.

If he redshirts, it can be done. If he's forced into action, there isn't any realistic way it can be done because of the weight loss when you play.

We're not talking about losing weight. We are talking about adding muscle. You don't lose muscle when you play. I promise you, Marquis Pair will not lose a pound of muscle when he plays.

But you lose weight.

Josh McNeil was one of the worst. He'd start a season around 270 and end at around 245-250.

With our SC program and Wylie being known for having great OL conditioning at TTU, I think we can rest assured they will be in the best condition possible.
