10% "Talent Fee" added to ticket prices in 2025

too many buy season tickets JUST to resale them and make $
Season tickets in our section will be $1600/pc next year. Looking at the schedule, how much do you think individual rival games are worth? It would be difficult to profit much when 3 of the games are basically worthless on the secondary market.

That being said, $6400 for 4 tickets just might price us out next year. I get it: supply and demand, revenue sharing, etc, but that's a ton of money for basically 4 good home games.

I agree with you except in 1982, when I graduated high school, my dad had a Fiat Spider convertible and I got to drive it to school. Certainly felt like a Ferrari at that time!

Unfortunately, that does not compute to modern times. As others have said, DW is a forward thinker and seems to be consistently staying ahead of the curve!
Sweet little car.
Too bad those weren't built well because they were sharp.

LOL. It's like I said in the other thread. When Danny White says "revenue," he means us. He means our money. A never-ending escalation of expenses and fees. Every interaction an opportunity to charge. A truly corporate and professional sports mindset.
It is not only UT, but every major competitive program in the future. This is the game now. It is going to cost you if you want great players and coaches. You asked for it, you got it.

The future of college football now is not if you are going to pay, but how much is it going to cost? And unlike the NFL, there is no spending cap.

I'm fine with the increase as long as the stadium upgrades continue.

The new seat cushions suck however i get the opportunity to tell the athletic department each week.

If you are a season ticket holder, make sure to give feedback each week on what is work and what is not working for you. They are listening!
I did... all they said is they would adjust my recline... what they don't seem to understand is it's the seats in front of us that recline causing the problem. They need to fix or remove them all honestly by Florida game

do you have any insight into what they are looking into doing to fix it?

I just hope this revenue sharing and NIL doesn't turn this into professional and ruin the sport.

Leg amputation. It's the only solution to create room from the seat in front of you.

just another way to price the average family out of being able to afford season tickets. Yes, I understand we have a great product on the field and the seats will be filled regardless of whether my family is there but I just feel like they really do not care about the average fan, it is all about the money.

GBO!

Didn't even need to count down, man. White already confirmed that in the interview with Andy - it's in the video.

"You know how when you go out and have a - a great dinner, you have a required 18% additional gratuity fee or can add on to it? So they'll have the ability to add additional [money] on top of the 10%."

And here I was thinking I was being sarcastically outlandish (hence the blue font). Oof.

I completely understand the thinking behind this. However, why do they put that cost back on the fans because the university is already bringing in massive amounts of profit from ticket sales, concessions, parking, merchandise, etc…

And when you don't have a Ferrari on the field, how's that "talent fee" going to sit with you? Or when you "give your all" and some kid up and leaves after a year for a bigger bag? Will it have felt worth it then?

I wonder how it'll feel in that world, a world where a century of all the rah-rah stuff about the Tennessee spirit is laid bare as pure marketing speak with no significance aside from the amount of money it can bring in from people. I guess when the students chose the rifleman to represent Davy Crockett, they were choosing the mascot that could most resonate with the locals and help part them from their money. Who knew.

This is of course where people come in and say that. "It's always just been about money." Yes of course, it's always been solely about the money. All that other stuff was fake. There was never anything like pride in one's school, or one's region. That was all just talk. The University of Tennessee Volunteer athletics program was always just about the dollars. A century of history and tradition in east Tennessee, all purposed for marketing. Who knew the "Volunteer Spirit" was just about volunteering your money?

And sure, I get that some people are fine with it. The "just win, baby!" crowd has always been pretty clear about it's priorities. But this new world exposes the old one as rather hollow. I don't think it was once upon a time, but now? Hollower and hollower. We're losing something that I think mattered and meant a lot to communities and to people. But hey. Who cares? Just win, baby.

Cmon, they’ve always charged for the tickets.

Soon to be heard over the PA system:
"Remember fans, Volunteer to give blood at one of the many kiosks inside the stadium concourse before you leave. Your blood donation is a precious, lifesaving gift. All the donated blood is sold to the highest bidder. All funds raised go to support UT athletics".

That's said somewhat in jest, I know, but I can see a day soon where that Oklahoma State QR code thing gets implemented, and people can tip players in real-time during the game by scanning their code. Put it up on the Jumbotron after a big play. Remind people to tip their team. 10% 18% 25% [ENTER CUSTOM AMOUNT]. Every play.

Hell, have an app. Why not? You can even have a game summary where you see stats and the app gives suggested market rate tipping for their performances.

Hell, EVEN BETTER. Fans of teams could even start a tradition where they use the opposing team's app to donate to their players when they screw up. Can you imagine that? Imagine being an Alabama running back, and you fumble going into the endzone in Neyland, and next thing you know, you've got 31,000 dollars in donated money. Collins Cooper misses the kick that gives UT the win against Florida in 1998, except now he gets 50,000 dollars in "way to go champ" donations from Vol fans. Do you score with the ball, or do you take the money and run? What sport. What fun.

I'm saying this sarcastically and yet I can see it all happening, clear as day. If you can tip players, then why can't you tip them any time? Why put limits on it? Why should there be any limits? People want a no-limits environment, embrace it for real. If the argument is "everything is okay," then let's put that to the test. See just how deep the rabbit hole can run.

I received an email from UTAD to provide comments about the new seatbacks. Mine reclines but so do the seats in the row in front of me. I made the comment you mentioned in your post about the problem is the recline occupies about half the knee space left for the person behind. So, they are soliciting comments. We’ll see if they listen.

"According to Adam Sparks with the Knox News, Tennessee will raise ticket prices and the required donations that accompany the tickets by an average of 14.5% next year. The majority of the new cost will contribute to a “talent fee” to pay players."

There is another 4.5% increase on top of the 10% bringing the total increase to 14.5%.
