'10 TN OL Zak Tait

"Spring ball has been going really, really good," said Tait. "I played rugby in the spring so I was in shape and I was used to hitting, so there wasn't much rust to work off. There was just a lot of excitement.

"They moved me to left tackle in our new spread offense so I am adjusting to that. I am going to have a lot of fun pass blocking, something that I haven't really been able to showcase since I've been playing high school football."

That's great to hear about Tait. If he's healthy, he will be heavily recruited. He will be a Vol in the end, could be really special.

I really thought he would be a great pickup for this class especially in an area of need. Is he not fully healthy yet? Will we wait until maybe after the season to offer?

Any chance this kid would walk on? Love to have him. But I don't see an offer coming.

Says he has offers from Colorado and New Mexico.

Looked him up to ask this very question.

He was on track to be one of the top OL before the knee. Anyone seen him this season know how hes recovered?

Another season to recover and a solid S&C program he could be a gem.

I believe his favorite is Auburn but I don't think he's received a written offer yet. He will probably wait until NSD to see if they lose anyone (I think their class is full) to see if he can get in there.... otherwise I think he will take the Colorado offer. He also likes GA Tech, so they're also probably playing wait and see.

I don't think he's a big enough UT fan to turn down a scholly for a walk-on opportunity.

Kids was a stud my senior year. I think he was a soph.. I know for knee injuries a player isnt the same. They become worse or twice as strong. I hope in his case he is doing better. How many stars does he have?

I wasn't impressed at all with him this year when I saw him.

Great player before the injury..not too much now.

I think Rivals has him at 3 stars now, but that may be sort of based on who he was before the injury and thinking he can get even close to where he was.

To be fair the kid had a major blowout and at one point I think they didnt believe he would play again. Most players take at least 2 years to fully recover and he would be going into the second year. A redshirt year and work in a good S&C program could get him back to his old form but its a big if.

Tait apparently didn't sign with anyone on NSD. His only offers were Colorado and New Mexico, and I'm not sure if they were still interested. Rivals dropped him to a 2 star. If the kid still wants to play college ball, what are the chances we take him as a walk-on if he is willing to do that. He has good size and was really good before his injury. If he got in a good S&C program and had another year to heal, you never know what might happen. Thoughts?

I just watched his video on rivals from this past season and he looks like he has recovered pretty well from his injury. They used him on a lot of pull blocks and he moves pretty good for a big guy. He appears to stick with his blocks until the whistle blows as well. If he would be willing to walk on, we sure could use the depth on the OL.

Walk on would be great. Actually, a walk on from him would be a steal. We can use some big uglies
