'10 VA DT Evan Hailes

Link to him saying he wanted playing time handed to him?

That's been the whole process with him really. When our depth chart suited him coming in a playing early, then he was all for it. After we got some of the JUCO commits, he reconsidered. Not the type of player Coach O is looking for to compete for time. This guy kind of reminds me of Langley and Brimfeild. Both were highly touted coming out of HS and neither has made a impact.

I hope he enjoys joe pa coaching him up from the press box and the golf cart.

I understand the move. It's called "afraid of competition." We are a now a program that needs recruits that THRIVE on competition. He was the only recruit that I know of that talks about UT being so laid back. Uhh no. It's an intense atmosphere on the practice field by all accounts. He didn't compete and was probably afraid to see the likes of Anthony Johnson and other cats just tearing it up. If he wants the "intensity" of Penn State, then go for it.

Ed O is as intense as it gets, and the kid could just be intimidated by what's in store. Bye bye
So could the fact that we had at least one player quit cause he couldn't handle the S&C regimen. Bubba want a Twinky? :p

I think this thread needs to be shut down, this guy obviously cant handle competition and I certainly dont want anyone on Tennessee's roster that would whine about PT without earning it!:stop:

wonder if we cut back on recruiting this kid?? May not have all been him backing down. we could have backed down.

Was this kid in the top 28 players on our board?? Who knows the top 28 players on our board??

My guess, he didn't make that cut.. JMo

Yeah - He can be with Joe Pa all he wants. He does not know what he is mssing out. You can't be handed everything in life. If he does not want to work hard, then we dont need him.

I am pretty sure Joe Pa has very little to do with any actual "coaching" at this point, kinda like Bowden at FSU. By their own admission, they are more delegators of responsibility or figureheads for the program than actual "coaches".

Yeah we are grateful for their tenure in college football and they had great runs, but I think it is time for the old timers to get out the way for the younger coaches. What has Bowden done since late 1990's early 2000. Jo Pa has a good season every now and again and he also breaks a leg (or bones) here and there as well...

Bottom line...Hailes was a bad fit for this staff and the kind of player (attitude) they want in the program. I've heard they did pretty much let up on him over the last month or so.
