people focus too much on the quality of or breaking down the meaning of rapper's lyrics. if the sound production and beat isn't there 9/10 rap songs will suck regardless if the best writer alive is rapping. the ability to dance to the music is a pretty essential part of hip hop's foundation, so i don't get why so many people are all about these art rappers with basic beats.
Any clown with a mic can jump up and put words together like mad/glad/sad/dad. How about every so often we have a rapper that actually puts a story together? And trust me, REAL hip hop is 70% lyrics and 30% beats/hooks. I don't remember people dancing around to "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" from Public Enemy or "My Melody" by Rakim and those are 2 hip hop classics.
Yeah the only people I know who like Kid Cudi smoke weed. Which is fine I guess, but if you don't then it doesn't seem like he raps about anything.
Post the best Kid Cudi song you can find and let me give him another chance.

There are a few that can really give you the wrong impression of him. Day N Night made him an overnight star, but it's one of his weaker songs, IMO.
