10 year show cause/NCAA, Tyndall discussion (merged)

A Chewbacca Defense is a way of "winning" a debate through methods other than logic and reasoned argument, up to and including the deliberate use of Insane Troll Logic to confuse people.

Key signs of a Chewbacca Defense include:
• Being accused of loving or hating X, where X is a subject unrelated to the debate.
• Having a point repeated over and over again.
• Shouting because if your voice is louder, you seem more powerful, and powerful people always win, so you must be the winner.
• Interrupting your opponent and/or talking about nonsense purely to delay and lengthen the debate (a.k.a. "filibustering"). Common in democratic debate, but dictatorships only bother when they're too weak to silence their opposition outright.
• Having semantics or nitpicks about the argument come up repeatedly, either to tire out or distract the opponent, or to waste time.
• Being hit rapid-fire with so many bogus arguments that you can't keep up unless you write them all down and painstakingly address them one at a time. This lets the other debater claim your failure to answer a few points as proof that you couldn't answer. Also known as a "Gish Gallop". It is named after Duane Gish, a debater who was known for using this tactic.

The common Chewbacca Defense is based on some combination of the following misconceptions and/or fallacies:
• If you can prove the other side wrong about something, no matter how irrelevant, it makes them totally wrong and you absolutely right.
• If you can word your statements and arguments in a way that is too confusing or nonsensical for the opponent to understand or respond to, it makes them wrong and you right.
• If you can make your opponent give up on arguing with you, because you appear too crazy to understand them and/or don't seem to be listening, then they must be wrong and you must be right.
• If you can make your opponent look bad, then their argument must be equally bad and therefore they must be wrong and you have to be right.

Am I right?
Yep, but they can't comprehend what you said.

Sorry, folks but once again, I was here at the Battle at the State Line fan event as the iconic sign over State Stree was lit in Vol and Hokie colors while Buzz was posting tonight. He ain't me but he does an admirable job don't you think?

Well, Senior Drill, someone has to keep tabs on the turkey farm. We need a bumper crop for November.

Today's tweets from the guy who brought them down!
Was the Troy job a Southern Miss/NCAA payoff to Adam Howard for giving information against Tyndall? Troy A.D. was former USM Asst. A.D.

NCAA violations at Southern Miss post-Tyndall and at No. Colorado (connected to Academic Fraud, Inc.). And Tyndall is guilty??????#NCAAambush.

"Cooperation" doesn't mean throwing coaches and players under a rolling NCAA bus. Sometimes you have to fight back. #Stateactor.

The new NCAA penalty structure creates an incentive for schools to turn on their own coaches. Problem is that the rules violate federal law

Why did the Enforcement chief Duncan attempt to interfere with Infractions Appeals Committee proceeding?

Haven't been here in awhile.

NCAA is somewhat worried that reducing/dropping the sanctions would be too blatant admission of wrongdoing and bring a public and costly counter suit/settlement from Tyndall in exchange for wrongful character damage/loss of income as the result of a penalty that they wrongly enforced.

You should expect a compromise, they're not going to drop it alltogether. Even Tyndall's attorney is realistic enough to understand that a revision of the punishment is a victory for their camp and opens the door for Tyndall to get a large settlement under the table.

I understand their dilemma, however if they are guilty of misconduct in this matter then they should expect to pay the price for their misdeeds. A federal lawsuit will be far more embarrassing and will carry with it a large monetary settlement as well.

Look at what the costs have been for Tyndall, considering that he was wrongfully charged. Losing the opportunity to coach in a P5 conference plus the salary that went with it, not to mention the hit to his reputation, is a tremendous loss to bear.

Partially undoing a wrong does not return the offended party back to the point where the injustice was committed. If Tyndall is found not to be guilty of these charges, then he should not have to suffer any deprivation of what he rightfully deserves.

Well, it looks like it's on their radar screen now, like they are in a nosedive!
Confirmation. The man was innocent. And guess what, this man doesn't give a damn about a settlement. He wants his reputation and his coaching career restored. If he doesn't get that, you will see this go federal. Tell the NCAA to put that in their pipe and smoke it!!

Tell me the truth, SD. Do you really believe the stuff you post or or you one of the world's most dedicated trolls?
I believe it is impossible for you to have any data saying ETSU recruits two stars while Tennessee recruits three stars. You just threw it out there, plain and simple and you have yet to prove me otherwise because I know you can't.

Here 's an interesting article, I don't think has been posted.
Written by a UT lawyer, explains Tyndall's appeal process, how they came up with 10 years and other sundries.
Broken down really well.

Examining Donnie Tyndall's potential appeal against NCAA | NCAA Basketball | Sporting News
That is history. The appeal is over and Don and Don nailed them to the wall for target practice. Take this to the bank, he will not settle without his reputation and coaching career being restored. Money means nothing!!!!

Yes, it must be true. The media is exploding with questions about what college sports is going to do without the NCAA.
Do you ever wake from this dream world you've created?

Adam Howard gets a job with Southern Miss crony (who is Troy AD), cuts deal with NCAA. Southern Miss and Howard SKATE. Hmmmm? #NCAAambush

Clear that Tyyndall was targeted by Enforcement Staff. Only way to get it done was to cut deal and help Adam Howard get a job #NCAAambush

SD, if you really believe the words you just posted, then I truly don't know what to say. You've been given multiple links to a major recruiting site that lists the entire roster of every D1 team along with each player's average star rating from rivals, scout, and espn, yet you refuse to follow the links or even acknowledge that this data exists. Sorry, my friend, but futility is not my game. Carry on.

Pretty easy to find.

Southern Miss SKATE ? USM gets 3 years' probation, no more postseason bans

You are either simply ignoring the links that multiple people have posted or ignoring the information in the links because it is right there.

Once Barnes is not coach, I won't be talking about how great he is (unless he wins big) for over a year and a half after limping to a .500 season. I'll say that this past year would've been better with Tyndall that it was only because 3 coaches in 3 years is never good. But that's the only reason.
