I do not see a way to recover and make the tourney with the SEC being as weak as it is. It's no longer if but just a matter of when will Zo be forced to go.

I agree. I think they will have win 4 games against KY, Mizzou, and FL. Plus not lose stupidly to somebody like GA. I'm afraid the writing is on the wall in perm ink.

If they don't rehire BP they might as well stick with Cuonzo and save some money for football assistant coaches. Nobody is going to jump back on the bandwagon for some obscure mid major guy or a burnout retread looking to punch the meal ticket one more time before retirement.

If CCM is fired, maybe Hart will get lucky again and fall into a decent hire.

You do realize Pearl was pretty much an "obscure mid major guy" don't you?

Stopped reading after "they might as well stick with Cuonzo"

at least he had conference championship and NCAA tournament success.

Exactly. I'm no hoops fan and I knew we were getting a high demand coach based on what he did at Milwaukee. A midmajor guy who rebuilds programs, wins conference titles and goes to the NCAA tourney is not obscure. OTOH I'd never heard of Cuonzo until he was announced as BP's replacement. Again, Shaka and Greg Marshall are the basketball equivalent of Chris Petersen before he left Boisie. Everybody wants those guys.

Really? A National Championship ( at any level) is quite an accomplishment. In addition, his overall winning % was among the top 5 in college basketball. He had won over 300 games. I don't think any of those could be referred to as "obscure". IMO, we will never be able to hire a coach as good as Bruce Pearl is so why not " re-hire" him while he is available?

1st off, I'll provide a link, our RPI as of 9:42am is 86 Live-RPI.com not 104 like you said.

2nd, as I posted above, if you don't understand the formula for RPI and what factors go into that number then you shouldn't post definitive things like your OP. Our RPI is expected to be 62 with a 18-12 record, 51 with a 19-11 record, 41 with a 20-10 record, 42 with a 21-9 record and 25 with a 22-8 record.

If we don't get to 20 wins we aren't even worthy of being in the discussion for a tournament spot anyways, regardless of our RPI. So, basically win and our RPI will be just fine :hi:

Huh?
You think they're gonna beat UK, Missouri and Florida TWICE? Not lose to any team they shouldn't? And still miss the dance?

What you're predicting, if I'm reading that correctly, would be us finishing around 15-3 in conference, likely placing us around 22-8 or 23-7. If we finish with that record see my above post, we would be in the tourney easily and probably with around a 5 or 6 seed.

Not surprising that a self-admitted casual hoops novice hadn't heard of him. He wasn't a complete unknown to those who follow college basketball closely. So, your ignorance isn't really proof of anything.

That said, no one would have confused him as a dynamite hire three years ago. This job was, and still is too big for him.

Especially since we played him in Pearl's last season.

Did you get concussed? I thank you may be bleedinorange out of the head. TN don't play KY twice this year. Pick out the dumb game they always loose and abracapocus...its a done deal.

Nope, sad to say it but we pretty much closed the lid on our tourney hopes in December. I can't see us getting wins over Florida, LSU, or Kentucky to recover from another slow start.

The VA game has become monumental.
Will we finish 7-5 in OOC play?
VA will be the most frustrating defense we play all season.
Every shot will be contested.
Stokes will be a non factor as he was last season.
Penetration will be denied.
Will our perimeter shooters find their stroke to loosen the defense?
Really can't see 13 wins in conference. of course that's based on how we're playing at present.
2 games to find the winning formula.
Can they do it?
