Finish top 10.Provided we start blitzing the qb's on critical 4th down plays and don't give them all day to run around.(Actually, I thought we might have figured this one out since David Greene and the UGA Bulldogs did the exact same thing several years ago, obviously not),deja vu.:BANGHEAD2:

I honestly think we go 10-3. ARK. is scary w/ their run game and our inability to stop the run BUT
i still think this has been a great season. C'mon VOL fans this time last year if we were 7-2 we would have jumped for joy. NEXT year is our year.

I agree, I'm upset with the loss, but to be honest, this has still been a successful season. We've lost to 2 teams that are better than us on paper, and played a great game against both. No shame in that. In addition, we've beaten everyone that we should, and at this point, the win over Cal could be considered as overachieving in the eyes of the national media.

We're playing hard, not incurring many penalties, and generally executing well.

I'm hopeful that we beat Ark and finish the regular season 10-2, but I'd take 10-3 with a bowl game win too.

I'm proud of the VOLS.

this has a been a tough game for me to handle. the fourth down play alone doesn't bother me as much as knowing UT's D let LSU put up over a 7 1/2 minute drive to end the game. That being said, i finally found myself able to watch football and watched some of the 2nd half of usc/arkansas and while they look good, i think our offense crompton or ainge led can put up great numbers on them and they are beatable... 11-2 will be great

is made by the defense UT won't beat Ark. and may not beat Vandy either. Right now the only the Vols beat the Hogs is to score 30+ points and with the way Ark runs the ball the Vols may not get enough chances to score 30 or more points.

I'm hoping that our D will come out w/ a point to prove against ARK. yes great improvement needs to be made in our run game as well as our ability to stop the run. I think they can do it or should i say i hope they can do it. the ARK game rests on the sholders of our D and our young QB JC. I honestly like our chances this team wont quit.

LSU is a much better team than Ark. We have just as much talent if not more than Ark other than the rushing game.

We can win that game, we've already played just fine in hostile night environments.

Next year the schedule is actually gonna be in our favor. We do go to Cal and FL, but GA, USC, and Arky at home. Should be another great year.

In all honesty we will be the team to beat next year.
UF and Arky and Cal have a bunch of seniors. we lose a good bit Mcbride, wade, stewart, mitchell,on D and swain, smith, anderson and a couple of O-linemen on offense. So we have a good chance as long as we can fill the db's and wr's shoes.

I'm glad that we have a product to be proud of again. We're climbing the mountain again, I think its realistic to expect us in the SECCG game in the next year or two - hopefully winning this one - if Cut stays around. Chavis will have the defense back to where we expect it next year, we have a lot of young guys getting a good bit of experience.

i still think this is what is wrong with our program. going to average bowls people see as a positive. if butch davis comes to UNC where are the kids going to flock. why is next year going to be our year. are we going to be so much better that we can beat a florida team that will be alot better, or a lsu team that is going to be better or arkansas, or georgia for that matter. sorry house i'm just not seeing it. we would be lucky to have as good of year as this year.

After last season there is no reason to be pissed over a 11-2 or even a 10-3 season gang. Have some of you forgoten what we felt like this time last year? Tennessee football is back gang!

We have a very young team right now and if they can stay close to these teams this year think about it both of our losses are by a combined 5 points.we will be MUCH better next year plus we will have depth on both lines.

i wouldn't say we are back, but it is worth atleast watching this year. for the first quarter and a half yesterday reminded me of last year.

i disagree. we lose 2 OL"S on a line that already can't run block. mcbride is gone and he is the only one besides mitchell that can get constant pressure. not to mention that our 2 starting DB"s are gone. and also gone all three recievers, yes meachum is gone folks. i just don't see how that is going to make us a better team.

Crying in your beer again?

You do know that this is college football. Every team we faced this year will lose valuable players.

It is the job of the coaches to recruit and replace them with new players. If they cannot do this and compete, they will lose their jobs.

The odds of us winning the National Championship with a one-dimensional offense and a leaky defense is about was about as good as Rutgers. Even if by some miracle we did go on to the Championship and lose. I'm sure you would've whined about the same problems we're all aware of now, despite of how they played.

Bottom line, the players that will be here when practice opens up will have to step up. Meachem was an unproven sophmore at one time too.

If they don't step up, then we will lose and Fulmer will be gone. So just relax, smoke one and get a hold of yourself.

i agree with most of what you say, nice avater by the way. i would be happy with winning the SEC, which hasn't happened in along time. i agree with everything you say except the end. fulmer will never be forced out or fired. all he has to do is win 7-9 games a year with a 6 loss season in there every now and then and the tennessee faithful will be happy that. in my opinon that is what is wrong with our program. plus florida and lsu are reloading every year and getting the most of there talent tennessee doesn't, i think i would put georgia in our catetgory now. they didn't reload this year.

Every now and then??? He had one six loss season! Fourteen years of coaching, one losing season! Other than that he has compiled the highest winning percentage among active head coaches, while playing in a tough conference and avoiding Div. II teams.

We would all like to see more championships around here. However, firing Fulmer is not the way to get that accomplished.

true i should. it just seems i come around on big games, and we usually lose those. i was happy after the georgia game though, but then they got beat by vandy and it took away some of my excitement, but i always like beating the dawgs and the tide. that is the reason the season isn't a total loss.

i didn't say he should get fired ( eventhough i think butch davis is 3 times a better coach). like i did say sec championships and BCS bowls no longer matter at tennessee. it's like yeh we are going to the outback or peach bowl. that just doesn't get me excited. that is the problem with our program.

You are to 2005 as Hippies are to 1967.

This season we have not usually lost the big games. We beat Cal, Alabama, and UGA. We have lost to Florida and LSU. We are second in the SEC East. We are on track to go to the Cotton Bowl, and we still have an outside shot at the Capital One Bowl.

2005 is over. 2 of the 3 biggest games we had at home we lost. wow citrus or cotton, i guess it is better than no bowl at all.

The Citrus and Cotton are designated for the 2nd and 3rd best SEC teams, respectively. So, I guess you expect nothing less than an appearance in the Sugar Bowl every season???

You should probably actually learn about college football prior to whining about it.

I completely understand the sentiment, I too will not be completely satisfied until our talent level matches that of Florida, Auburn, and LSU once again. But those guys went out there and played their butts off.

Here is what UT fans can hope for next season.
1. Demonte Bolden and JT Mapu get ready to play.
2. Meachem is not coming back, so two or three receivers need to step up.
3. Next year, the running game needs to return to some degree. If UT can make it through the off season without anymore surgeries on the top three RBs that is a strong possibility.
4. The strong '04 recruiting class asserts itself. It is time to see Meyers-White, Morely, Dre Mathis, Rico McCoy and company begin to take charge of their responsibilities.
5. A top ten recruiting 07 recruiting class is also necessary.

If my aunt had ....she would be my uncle. But this defense took an extrodinary hit when Justin Harrell got hurt. UT was left without a DT that draws a double team. The result is absolutely no pressure from the front four at all. Justin Harrell is worth three Demonte Bolden's at this point. If he were healthy, the Florida and LSU games would have both been less one sided.

I am not ready to claim the Eastern Division title next year quite yet, but I expect that next year this team should perform at a much higher level against the more talented teams in the SEC. If that does not happen, it is justifiable to let the banging of the cymbals of coaching change begin.
