11-2 would be a great season!

The Citrus and Cotton are designated for the 2nd and 3rd best SEC teams, respectively. So, I guess you expect nothing less than an appearance in the Sugar Bowl every season???

You should probably actually learn about college football prior to whining about it.

you must not have been a fan when we went to the citrus almost like every year for 6 years why spurrier went to the sugar. i would like to see tennessee get to the sugar bowl again it would be nice. i have learned over the years not to expect that though, that way at the end of the year you won't be disappointed. the citrus by the way will pick who will travel best to orlando. tennessee don't travel good to orlando.

I completely understand the sentiment, I too will not be completely satisfied until our talent level matches that of Florida, Auburn, and LSU once again. But those guys went out there and played their butts off.

Here is what UT fans can hope for next season.
1. Demonte Bolden and JT Mapu get ready to play.
2. Meachem is not coming back, so two or three receivers need to step up.
3. Next year, the running game needs to return to some degree. If UT can make it through the off season without anymore surgeries on the top three RBs that is a strong possibility.
4. The strong '04 recruiting class asserts itself. It is time to see Meyers-White, Morely, Dre Mathis, Rico McCoy and company begin to take charge of their responsibilities.
5. A top ten recruiting 07 recruiting class is also necessary.

If my aunt had ....she would be my uncle. But this defense took an extrodinary hit when Justin Harrell got hurt. UT was left without a DT that draws a double team. The result is absolutely no pressure from the front four at all. Justin Harrell is worth three Demonte Bolden's at this point. If he were healthy, the Florida and LSU games would have both been less one sided.

I am not ready to claim the Eastern Division title next year quite yet, but I expect that next year this team should perform at a much higher level against the more talented teams in the SEC. If that does not happen, it is justifiable to let the banging of the cymbals of coaching change begin.

i agree with everything. well said. i just don't see all of it happening. i think florida gets us again next year, and i hate the gators. i also don't think we will have a top 10 recruiting class, eventhough fulmer has proven me wrong before. did you notice bolden got a sack yesterday i was shocked.

Tennessee does travel well! Also, you should really learn about college football. The Sugar Bowl has the first choice of the SEC, then the Capital One, Cotton, etc. Depending upon how things shake out, the SEC could have two representatives in the BCS. If that happens, then we will definitely go to the Capital One Bowl (that would mean that Arkansas beat LSU.) If it does not happen, then we will end up in the Cotton.

Further, I am through debating with fools...at least for today.

Florida will have defensive questions to answer next year that are similar to UT's this year. Watch for UGA to be a tad better next year.

the last time we were in line to go to the citrus we went to the cotton or peach the citrus bowl has the right to bypass the second team if they feel they won't sell tix. that is the facts and the reason we were knocked out last time and the outback took florida because they to are a better draw there. fools. shows the class you are. it is just discussion, why you taking it so personal. i thought you were a vol fan. we just have different views. thats all you needed to say.

You must have done your homework on this because you are completely wrong.

2000 Cotton Bowl
Florida 8-1 (SEC Rankings)
Auburn 6-3
UT 5-3
LSU 5-3
UGA 5-3

2001 Citrus Bowl

2002 Peach Bowl
UGA 8-1
Florida 6-2
UT 5-3
Auburn 5-3
LSU 5-3
Arkansas 5-4

2003 Peach Bowl
LSU 8-1
UT 6-2
Florida 6-2
UGA 6-3
Auburn 5-3

2004 Cotton Bowl
Auburn 9-0
LSU 6-2
UGA 6-2
UT 6-3
Florida 4-4

The only questionable year was 2003. However, that was the season that we beat Florida, Florida beat UGA, and UGA beat us. We were all tied for first in the SEC East.

i'm not wrong, it happened it was even in the papers. they has to give a explanation to the fans because they couldn't figure it out either. which the citrus did. they said they took the team which if i remember was either georgia or auburn and the explanation was they traveled better.

find it yourself, i believe it was the 2003 season. also i believe others on the board that live in the knoxville area should remember this.
Classic response...BTW, I already referenced the ordeal from the 2003 season.

this has a been a tough game for me to handle. the fourth down play alone doesn't bother me as much as knowing UT's D let LSU put up over a 7 1/2 minute drive to end the game. That being said, i finally found myself able to watch football and watched some of the 2nd half of usc/arkansas and while they look good, i think our offense crompton or ainge led can put up great numbers on them and they are beatable... 11-2 will be great

I was not able to watch the Ark/USC game..... Did Newton play in this game? He is light years ahead of the bar room brawler.

go to citrus bowl homepage. georgia picked over us because they would sell more tix. question what kind of fan are you when you don't remember this. 2003 wasn't that long ago.

that is true, but that was not the reason georgia was selected. they said they were a bigger draw than tennessee. they would sell more tickets so they got to go. if i remember correctly fulmer said that have a clause in there contract with the sec, that they can choose.

also the reason why florida was selected to go to the outback bowl that year. they were a bigger draw in tampa, which is a given. so we went to the peach.

Do you know how to read? I spoke about the selection earlier. Sugar gets the first choice, and is contractually tied to the SEC Champion. Capital One gets the second choice, Cotton third, etc. etc.

I have no problem with the Capital One Bowl choosing UGA that season. UGA won the East, had an overall record that was markedly better than UTs, and was ranked inside the Top 15. A top 15 team is going to travel better than a team that had barely any right to remain inside the Top 25.

that doesn't make it the second place team in the sec. do you just come on this board to argue. i can usually see everybodys point i talk to on here. even the one's i disagree with. you on the other hand, i don't think anybody knows where your coming from. you need to watch more football and learn more about the game. that is all i have to say about that.

In all honesty we will be the team to beat next year.
UF and Arky and Cal have a bunch of seniors. we lose a good bit Mcbride, wade, stewart, mitchell,on D and swain, smith, anderson and a couple of O-linemen on offense. So we have a good chance as long as we can fill the db's and wr's shoes.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Arkansas' running backs, McFadden and Jones are only sophomores. Mitch Mustain is a freshman, and Casey Dick is a sophomore as well. Marcus Monk - 195 yards receiving against the Gamecocks - is a junior, as is Arkansas fullback Peyton Hillis. Only two O linemen are seniors, with the remainder being juniors, and sophomores. Only 3 defensive staters are seniors.

The reality is Arkansas is very good, AND very young.

This game will test are character. We can light up their secondary but they can run through are D Line. You can bet that it is going to be one high scoring game.

There is no doubt that next year will be ours to lose. With Leak graduating and the key players that the other SEC East teams are losing we should be set. Ainge will be a Senior we will have Metcham back because there are several receivers coming out this year. so with one more year under his belt he will be the top guy WR next season. I am ecstatic that this season is so successful. I cant wait to see what next season has in store.
