"I was pretty excited to see the new offense, the coaching staff and be among the other top recruits at the Tennessee spring game" said Washington. "When I got there, one of the assistant coaches called me to Coach Kiffin's office and Coach Kiffin offered me a full athletic scholarship. All I could do was smile, it was an incredible feeling."
"The new staff brings more energy"
"I think they will always have it. Coach Kiffin also said if you're the best player at a position you're going to play regardless of your class, which is different from the previous staff in which they gave playing time based more on seniority. They plan on playing me on offense, because they feel I need the ball in my hands, and I feel the same way. Coach Kiffin coached at USC and was very successful and he has brought in a similar scheme to Tennessee. I thought the offense looked pretty good.
"I like Georgia, Florida and Tennessee, those would be my top 3 schools"
"I really like the coaching staff and the plan they have in place for me."
"My feelings about Georgia have not changed, they are still up there at the top," admitted Washington.
"The next offer I am hoping for is from Florida," he added.
Living in Tennessee, Washington admitted there is a significant pull towards him staying in state and playing in Knoxville.
"I have felt the pressure to stay at home and play for Kiffin, and when I went up there it was even stronger, but yeah it is always there," Washington said.- Rivals
"They bring a way different energy than coach (Phillip) Fulmer and the coaching staff before coach Kiffin came in," said Washington. "I think it's going to be an energy that stays there. They're young, energetic and the new coaching staff looked very motivated."
"Coach Kiffin is doing a great job keeping the in-state people and that's what he's trying to do right now unlike coach Fulmer," said Washington. "There are great athletes that came out of Tennessee he didn't even go after. I think coach Kiffin is just trying to keep all his in-state talent unlike the first coaching staff."
"Yeah, you can definitely notice it," Washington said. "There's just something about how he comes from a winning, the last time he coached in college came from a winning team (Southern Cal), and I guess he just carried that with him."
Have a cousin that came in for Mother's day today, he live's in Jackson. Said him & J. Washington are real good friend's was telling me they go to Church together & hang out all the time. Once i heard that i tried to get as much info as i could out of him, so here it is.
Say's Washington is one of the most well mannered, down to earth, outgoing kid's you will meet. Said that he make's excellent grade's & has a smart head on his shoulder's.
I asked him what school's was he most interested in & he told me that he was UGA all the way, said he loved Mark Richt. Said that he had some interest in Florida, but their was no way he didnt go to UGA. Also said Tennessee has no chance of landing him.
Take it for what it's worth but that's what i was told.
