'11 DE OL Trip Thurman

I think the Thurman thing was a definite mistake, but since then we've locked up Posey, Crowder, and Kerbyson. I mean with a Florida offer on the table, there's no guarantee even with the full court press on Thurman he would've ended up a Vol anyway. It was a mistake but one that appears to have come with at least some decent atonement.

Explain to me how we made a mistake here. We never even offered him. It's a bit of a stretch to criticize our coaches for messing up the recruitment of someone they didn't want.

lol @ people still arguing negatively against our coaches and defending some kid, who was never offered, who drove all the way from Delaware to Knoxville but wasn't able to find his way to shake the hand of our coaches and introduce himself on a day when they were visible to anyone with eyes and a brain.

Bottom line is he came down w/o the coaches knowing (for one reason or another) and got his feelings hurt when the carpet wasn't red and instead of acting like a man and asking someone where the recruiting office was he cried about it and apparently drove home. Weaksauce imo. GET OVER IT, we don't need him. Next...

During that eval, they asked him if he thought it was alright for a man to cry on national t.v. after a lose. His reply was "Yes, I think it is O.K."

Needless to say, the staff, wanting whats best for all the recruits, directed him in the right direction.

Nicely played sir! :lolabove:

guess he doesnt like being down on someone's board...considering the big loads with have committed and are in one there was no room for him

UT is/was in on a lot more kids than UF is in terms of O Lineman. I am guessing they didn't make Trip as big a priority as UF did mainly because of the number of quality lineman UT has a chance at.

Regardless, if there is any concern of a possible commitment flip back to Tennessee down the stretch, there doesn't seem to be much indication on the part of Thurman that there is even a slight possibility that could happen.

"Knowing the situation that happened up at Tennessee, I think I can develop a strong hatred of that program," he said with a laugh.

(Gator) Tails from the Trail: Trip Thurman talks Florida commitment...

What a baby, acting like this over an apparent miscommunication between him and an incoming staff...

Where ever he goes he better grow up a little if he wants to play OL in the SEC.

Considering how bad he seems to hate any lack of attention makes me wonder why in the hell he committed to Florida. They already have 22 OLs on their roster, not counting incoming signees and walk-ons.
If he's not the next Seantrel Henderson then he's gonna be just another wall-flower for a couple of years.

We dropped the ball on this kid. I like Dooley and he is doing an exceptional job but this was a screw up. Don't see why some are so opposed to admitting the staff made a mistake on this kid. Alienated a good player at a position of need. I think we still make out better at the position but it was a mistake.

meh. while the best players will get in the game, Thurman right now looks like the best offensive lineman we'll get this class and we didn't take any guys who project as guards last class. after Thurman's redshirt year he'll have a good opportunity for playing time.

so anyway we get a second look from this kid. With AR considered a lock, are we even interested in taking another lineman. Or has this ship already sailed..

I think Jackson and AR finishes out the Oline class and it will be the best class we've had in several years at the position.

Edit: Jmoore beat me to the punch.

Tough, but I'll go with:
OT #1: James > Richardson
OT #2: Pair < Posey
OG #1: Stone < Jackson
OG #2: Fulton > Kerbyson
C: Gooch < Crowder

2010 (2) < 2011 (3)
We'll have to see with some time but I think Jackson and Crowder will be really good and are underrated.

James, Stone, and Fulton will all be four year starters. Pair will be a career second teamer at worst.

How nice is it to even be able to argue about this though? I think it will take some time to see which is the best class but Kerbyson, Posey, Crowder, Jackson, and Richardson will all be great IMO.
