'11 FL DE James Wilder Jr.

If JW wanted to come here and we told him no because of DY then kudos to Dooley. It would have been classless to take him.

It's not his job to be classy. It's his job to win games. If that's the approach he's going to take, I guess I should get a head start on buying tickets to the next 3 Music City Bowls.

im not basing my opinion that Wilder is better off of a star. and honestly, kids get recruited over all the time. They should know its a possibility. If he loved UT as much as most claim he does, he would greyshirt so we could get as much talent in as possible.

I don't think Young would be so offended by being asked to greyshirt that he would turn it down and go to Tusculum. You don't pass up talent like Wilder for someone who might develop into an average kick returner.

ETA: Just from a hypothetical standpoint. Obviously Wilder isn't going anywhere but FSU.

I would have loved to have an average kick returner last year

Something tells me that alot of parents and recruits have warmed up to the Vols because of the way CDD handles the in home visits. They sense he is honest, a good man, and would be a good person to look after their son for the next 4-5 years. Something also tells me if he was this heartless cut throat recruiter who was more concerned with winning at all costs then doing the right thing....alot of these situations would be different. JMO

If your looking for a coach who would sell his soul to the devil to land that 5 star recruit...I think you may need to consider pulling for another team. I don't think that is going to happen at Tennessee with this staff. IMO, that is a goood thing.

We could and should have slow-played Young and waited to see who we landed on NSD before we decided on an offer. He would have still signed with UT if offered.

And Tennessee pays you how much exactly to sit back and make these decisions? Obviously you seem more informed than our coaching staff. Maybe they should give you a call and double check that BMoore is a take before he goes public. Maybe they did not slow play DY as they figured someone else may come in with an offer. Maybe alot of teams did NOT offer DY as they figured he was UT bound. There are alot of reasons this staff decided to take DY and as a fan, or one who claims to be I would think a VOL fan would welcome him.

Go Vols

Why are we even having this hypothetical argument?
Posted via VolNation Mobile

Because people actually think we should not tell some kids no because more talented kids want to be here.

Because some of those same people think with that strategy we should compete with the Alabamas, Floridas, LSUs, etc.

And because some of those people will be the same ones saying look at Dooleys recruiting when they decide that he should be fired in a couple years, and will point to people like Young, etc who dont pan out.

(This is all hypothetical though, its funny because I think Dooley is doing a great job, but I dont agree with DY and that is it in this recruiting season, but because of that I should ****)

Please stop talking about James Wilder Jr (whoever that is).

This is Devrin Young thread. Every thread is Devrin Young thread.

SGM already pulls for him and he's at USC now...

Why is he listed as a DE in the title? If stuff like this continues I'm gonna stop being a premium member of volnation and paying $5 a month...
