Do these kids not look at the current roster when they make these decisions?? He is gonna be behind Simms for at least 3 years......and in that time, if he doesnt think Bama will recruit over him with 5* pro-style QB he is crazy. This is kinda like Scroggins picking USCw.....just doesnt make any sense.

AJ from the sound of it. My understanding from reports is that if G Mac did not have the experience and leadership not to mention being undefeated AJ might be the starter this fall. Everything out of spring camp was that AJ technically was the best QB out there and that was being said last year also. PS will get redshirted this fall unless something happens to GMac. Which helped last season because it allowed AJ to redshirt. So in 2011 AJ will still have 3 years and P Sims will have 4 years to play. Another reason that surprised me by Ely commiting even though he is a EE in Jan, which is nice, he will redshirt next fall and in 2012 P Sims will have 3 years left to play not to mention if all goes as expected J Winston will be on campus as an EE Jan 2012. Now anything can happen but I guess Ely thinks he can see the field.

After watching the spring game myself I figured as much. AJ looked solid and even better than GMac IMO (like you said others felt). I think AJ's size will help him be a more than solid QB in this conference.

It is nice to be in our shoes right when you can recruit for depth at a position a get a player like Ely who knows that AJ and PS are in front of him. But CNS wanted to have 3 scholarship QBs going into next season.

TAMPA - Plant High quarterback Phillip Ely has been extended an invitation to play in the annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl Game.

Panthers coach Robert Weiner said Ely is one of the first in the nation to receive confirmation of his spot on the final roster. Ely is expected to get his formal invitation during a ceremony in the fall.

He transferred out late spring I think it was. Plus this summer so far B Sims has seen practice at the QB but I think it more for a wildcat play, but still nice.

BTW I keep hearing that Bray is looking good in fall camp for UT. He has alot of upside and being the number 2 at UT this early is really going to help him. I would not be surprised to see him in some games this fall.
