'11 GA QB C.J. Uzomah

Wow how did Tennessee go from seemingly being in good shape with this kid to being out of his Final 3. This is a big loss IMO. Kid is a great talent no matter where people are projecting him.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday, but I never sAid anything. I was holding out hope this guy would have been a Vol. I guess it's a bad thing when we go several weeks without hearing thing on a certain recruit, because I was for sure we were in his top 3 as little as 2 months ago.

He's one of the few highly rated guys with offers from the SEC power schools that I thought Tennessee had a good chance of landing. Very disappointing to see they are out of it now.

Once Worley committed to us, do you think all the other QBs crossed us off their list? We are only taking one QB and Worley has that spot now.

I guess. Although I think a lot of schools liked him an as athlete and agreed to give him a shot in freshman fall camp at QB. He's still a big loss for Tennessee considering they are not positioning themselves very well on these big-time prospects lists. Uzomah was one of the few they seemed to be in good shape with, at least early on.

Wrong, we are in good position.

Not with Uzomah but with many other top recruits like you said we weren't.

Who then? Uzomah was one of the few we were seemingly in good shape with for a long time. Being 4th of 5th on guys lists isn't going to land you many of them, if any.

I think we move up on a lot of these guys lists if Dooley can show something on the field this season. It will be very tough with the talent and depth void that we have currently but if he can just show recruits what could be in the future I think we really land some top guys. Your thoughts?

We would definitely move up with some guys "IF" he can show something this season. But like you said these are all based on "IF's" at this point and unfortunately like you said with the lack of talent and depth on this year's team I'm not sure how realistic it will be for much to be shown, especially if more dismissals are coming. As things stand right now I personally dont see better than a 5-7 season happening. If they go ahead an dismiss a Hughes or a Walls or a King...or whomever the talent level or lack of it will become even more magnified. They can't afford to lose a single guy as things stand now in my opinion. Myles was an absolutely devastating blow in my opinon. Depth was already a big problem at safety but now you wont have have even 2 above average SEC players starting back there.

Even with positional uncertainty, Uzomah's a hell of a lot better of an option at most positions than a Walk-on Parade.

Hopefully he's being pursued still, we've been doing pretty well in Georgia. It sounds like he wants to play for more of a winner where PT isn't as much of a concern, though. Could be a tough obstacle to overcome.

I think early PT for a lot of recruits is way down the list when it comes to final decision time. Most do want to play for a winner at the end of the day. If it was such a factor I doubt we'd see the same programs year after year bringing in the Top 5-10 recruiting classes. Early PT is probably a much bigger factor with JUCO's than it is with high school players.

IMO, he's Auburn bound to play WR. As opposed to QB at LSU.

Def not wr. he plays qb in hs but is not really a dual threat. if he plays anything other than qb, it will be tight end and he will have to develop for a while to take on that role.

Not sure. LSU likes his type of QBs. Not a huge dual threat guy but he has athleticism and height. Reminiscent of Jefferson. You can count Russell, but not anymore.

I defnitely don't see him playing WR. Plus, it would take him a lot of time to develop into a TE, at least a year.

I should have made that more clear. It was my opinion what school he was going to, not which position he will play. He has said publicly that LSU is recruiting him to play QB and that Auburn is recruiting him as a WR. He has also said that he does not mind playing WR, and that he will probably be playing more WR than QB his senior year.
