Hayes to ND would be a bad choice. But I think everyone is chasing Michigan State anyways.
1. If I'm a highly recruited running back I have no interest in Notre Dame at all. Seeing 3 seasons up close of Kelly in Cincinnati, being a running back in his system is not attractive at all. Just about every single run, when he does call one, is a stretch play. It worked at Cincinnati against Big East teams, but it didnt work in BCS games against better quality competition.
2. Kelly not being around when recruits visit is not a surprise. He does not put much emphasis on recruiting at all and leaves it almost 100% up to his assistants.
he better think about changing that. ND does recruit itself, to an extent, but his assisstants arent gonna pull him top 5 classes.
"Because many of the Irish coaches were on vacation, including head coach Brian Kelly, Hayes spent most of his time with his recruiting coach, Chuck Martin". Article from TOS about Hayes' recent visit to Notre Dame. Also goes on to mention that while on his visit he ran into another Michigan running back ND is recruiting, Gray I think is his name. Dangerous having two recruits from the same position, let alone state, run into each other on campus visits. Just thought it was an interesting read.
Notre Dame seems to not be on their game so much.
1. Worley never met Kelly (if they are not interested in him, why waste their time with his visit to begin with?)
Not sure what happened with Worley but TN got a good QB out of it in the end
2. Kelly not around for a big visit like this one
He either met with Kelly last night or is doing so tonight depending on when the article I read was written
3. Other RB recruits running around at the same time.
Hayes was the only RB recruit on campus, Gray is a Junior this year and already on the team
I like.
It actually looks more like everyone is chasing ND with TN as the strongest competition and mostly because he has yet to visit UT.
If true, I hope the kid likes running 10-12 stretch plays a game. I just dont see how playing RB in that offense could be attractive to a kid. Limited touches and very little running between the tackles.
So much for a Michigan-Michigan State battle for Justice Hayes. The four-star RB tells Steve Wiltfong of ESPN affiliate IrishSportsDaily.com that he is on the verge of cutting his list from six to three, and that Notre Dame and Tennessee -- the latter of which he has never visited -- will definitely be among his finalists. That would leave either the Wolverines or the Spartans (or perhaps even both?) on the outside looking in.
Hayes says that offensive coordinator Charley Molnar told him that he was the Irish's top target at RB. "He said I can touch the ball however I want," Hayes said. "I can catch the ball, I can run the ball, I've pretty much set myself up to get the ball anyway I want."
Hayes now says he will most likely visit Tennessee and his two other finalists one last time before making a decision, which suggests a timetable well accelerated from the one he laid out below. (How prospects can change their plans so quickly is fascinating.)

Four-star RB Justice Hayes of Michigan tells ESPN.com's Bill Kurelic, writing for ESPN affiliate SpartanTailgate.com, that he is down to six schools: Tennessee, Iowa, Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State and Northwestern (that's the order he listed them).
Hayes has backed off his original plan to decide this summer, and in fact will not even take officials until after the season. He has taken unofficials to all except Tennessee, which he plans to hit before the end of the month. He did say, however, that he might narrow his list further, to four schools, before the season.
In his ESPN.com blog, Kurelic writes: "Picking a favorite for Hayes at this point is pretty difficult, but it seems safe to say the Wolverines and Spartans don't trail anyone."
If Michigan lands four-star Demetrius Hart of Florida, which we told you earlier seems a good possibility, then that may eliminate the Wolverines. The Spartans currently have another in-state RB committed in three-star Onaje Miller, who is the same size as Hayes but who Scouts, Inc., likes as a CB.
