Word from those in the know is that the staff thought Luatua was kinda short when they evaluated him in person. Not saying we wouldn't have taken him, but he is definitely not as good as Kelly and the argument could be made he's not as good as Crowder.

The staff was very high on Luatua. He and Kelly are/were far and away their Top 2 Center's on the board.

Height is one of the most overated stats ever for Center prospects anyways.

They are now high on Crowder because they lost out on Luatua and because Kelly is a longshot.

Who is/was the top C on our staffs board? Luatua, Crowder, Kelly, or are we just gonna roll the dice on Ol'Gooch?

I think Luatua started out as #1 cuz they offered him first. But then they saw him in person and didn't like what they saw which led to them offering Kelly and now Crowder.

I dont buy that he fell out of favor because of lack of size

If Alabama took his commitment this early, his size is most def. not an issue.

I agree. Hubbs usually has great info, but quite honestly lately I've noticed Volquest has really fallen off big-time with their info and at times its accuracy.

Be careful, I said this a week or two ago and was nearly crucified.

This. Unless he was like 5'10 300 lbs it probably isn't that bad.

I don't think Brent ever said we backed off because of height did he? I thought it was more the posters on VQ speculating.

Watch their highlights and tell me who has better footwork and flexibility. Watch them close. I'll tell you, it's Crowder!

FWIW Ryan Kelly has named us in his final 6 very recently. Michigan apparently leads.

Yeah, I saw that recently about Michigan. What's up with that? He could land plenty of better places than Michigan. Not that Michigan is not a great FB program, but it is in a serious funk now with RR at the helm. I won't be surprised at all if this isn't RRs last season there. That guy never should have left WVU -- he was a good fit there, but not at Michigan -- bad hire. Kelly's really impressive to me. I like his versatility. He could probably play any OL position (SEC-level) except LT. Would make a great guard or center.

Making his decision at 4:30 Today.

Bama, Cinci, UF, FSU, Michigan TENN are his top 6.

My guess would be Cinci, would love to lock up the Center position but dont see it happening

Appears to be Bama. They are the ones tracking his announcement on their site.
