Strongside defensive end
Cincinnati, Ohio
Moeller HS

Ht:6'4"
Wt:230 lbs

Jesse Hayes may have a major advantage as his father is Jay Hayes defensive line coach for the Cincinnati Bengals. Hayes has great size at 6-foot-4, 235-pounds and shows advanced skills coming off the edge. Hayes also showed his ability on special teams as he recovered a blocked punt and scored.

Very raw player. I think he has some long-term talent for sure but right now he is extremely raw IMO.

Hayes is tutored by Coach Smith

Hayes father, Jay, is the defensive end coach for the Cincinnati Bengals & longtime friend of new Tennessee defensive line coach Chuck Smith The younger Hayes worked with Smith last year.

"I went and worked with him in Atlanta last Summer," Hayes said. "I think he's a really good guy and I know he knows what he is doing. He will take that program in the right direction on the defensive line."

Hayes on his offer from Tennessee
"I was really excited because I know Tennessee is a big time program," "They are one of my top schools. They have a great tradition. They are a high prestige team and they play in the SEC..."

:salute:

Chuck Smith hopefully will create a GREAT reputation for himself as a developer of D-Lineman while he is here coaching for the Vols and will be a major recruiter for us in the future.

Looks like we are in good standing here early on.

How many DE's would we take this year since we had a few in this last class?
2?

That's odd. I'm assuming you've seen him play in person but I would think a kid with an NFL coach for a dad (and uncle) would be anything but "raw". Not to mention his training with Coach Chuck.

There hasn't been much lately on Hayes, but I think we have good shot with him and he has got the work ethic and pedigree to make an impact in the SEC.

Looking at this kids offer list unless he wants to stay close to home and go to Cincy I like our chances in landing him.

Nothing you haven't already read in this thread. He plans on camping & taking an offical to UT. Not much to get hyped up about.

He's very raw.

Based on what I've been hearing lately, I'd say Wisconsin is his leader with Tennessee probably 2nd or 3rd on his list at this point.

FSU is recruiting Hayes hard now and he's going to be in Tally-ho for a visit this week.
