'11 QB Stephen Rivers

So Sab, in your professional opinion, who do you think is the best QB in the class of 2011?

The ones at the top are all close. Bridgewater is hands-down the best athlete. LeMay, Golson, and Worley are all really close, but just based on film, I'd say LeMay is the most ready.

My opinion is far from professional though. And I'm most likely wrong. That doesn't stop me from trying though.

Russellville beat Athens last night, who has Phillip River's little brother as their qb, but I watched them play Muscle Shoals................his brother he is not

he is tall and can move around, but his arm didn't impress me... had had like 200 yards passing, but all on screen passes and not only that, he didn't get them until late in the 4th quarter, they were up by like 17 and Muscle Shoals had their subs in(which is smart, if you lost go ahead and let them get some experience)... Athens still had Rivers in padding his stats against the 9th grade

From someone I know

I live about 10 mins from Athens and will be going to watch there game Friday night. They play one of the worst teams in the state literally they broke a 27 game losing streak two weeks ago so Rivers should have monster numbers.

If I am not mistaking Athens plays my hometown school in the first round of the playoffs. Athens VS Boaz at Boaz. Will be Rivers vs Phillips (current BYU commit)

Stumbled across this forum while looking up the Boaz vs. Athens playoff game tonight (which I'm going to). Thought I should straighten some of you folks out about Steven Rivers.
I watched Phillip play at Athens and now his brother, I live in Athens. Phillip is the only QB I have ever seen in High school that audibled plays by himself, without looking to the sidelines, Steven does not. That could change next year for Steven I dunno.
Steven throws a nicer deep, accurate ball than Phillip did and throws the ball harder, they both have about the same touch when throwing. Stephen is smaller then his Phillip was, but Stephen still has 1 more year left. Steven can't run as fast as his Phillip (Phillip was recruited for safety first by a lot of colleges his senior year, since he was one of the best safeties in the state his senior year).
Athens is not throwing the ball short all the time and padding numbers like someone suggested. Athens offense changes from game to game according to who they are playing. I personally seen a game where they threw the ball deep often because Athens had faster and taller receivers then the defensive corner backs. I really look forward to next year, I sincerely believe he will be one of the best QB's in the state next year.

Quote from the Hazel green vs. Athens game in the paper.
"Rivers took himself out of the game after getting sacked on a first quarter play. David Ezell replaced him for a series before Rivers returned after the following Athens possession. Ezell finished the game in the fourth quarter after Athens built a 27-3 lead."
How is that padding the numbers?

His new film is out from his Junior Season and he looks like a great young Signal Caller to me. He has excellent pocket awareness, excellent footwork, great size at 6-6 200, good mobility, excellent accuracy, and an above average arm like his brother. He has an early offer from the Vols and has said recently that the Vols lead for him early. He is the guy that I hope we take for the 2011 class because of his obvious bloodlines and his excellent upside.

good news that we lead

haven't seen him play but if he is like his brother talent wise and leadership wise i would take him in a heartbeat even though I really dislike Philip

I know rivers quite well.. he likes tenn a lot but he gets pressure from bammers all the time. Either way tenn is in a good spot ATM.

Aside from that his brother is a tool.
