This guy really isn't unknown. I remember reading about him a few months ago.

Pair came completely out of nowhere though.

i don't want to be a negative nelly here, but most of the stuff that was reported about Rexroad came from the mouth of Rexroad himself. Bryant didn't go in for the camp. Some of it came from VNM and some has been coming from Rexroad himself. We have been contacting him evidently for some time, possibly like we do a lot of kids. Right now he doesn't have an SEC or ACC offer. Maybe we will offer. If we do, I be he jumps on it. However, we have a bunch of guys that we have offered who we must have graded out higher than he is.

Anyone seen this kid? Just coming out of his Junior year and he's already built like a brick **** house.

I am pretty sure this guy has visited UT before. But it was when the last staff was in place. Hopefully the current one likes what they see.

I cannot remember for sure, but I think it was an unofficial visit the first time. I can't keep track of all the visits so I apologize if I am wrong.

ok guys, please don't lynch me for being a facebook stalker(becuase I'm not), but I just commented on Jason's status and said "hope to see you in orange and white!" He responded a little later and said "thanks man, i would love to play there. We will see what happens, as of right now they are in the lead."

just fyi

“My dad went to school at Tennessee,” Rexroad admitted. “I have liked Tennessee for a long time. We have been a few times over the years; I got to attend the Vanderbilt game last year.”

“They are definitely my favorite,” Rexroad said. “I’m not sure if I will pull the trigger instantly or not. If it feels right and I get that feeling in my gut I will, we will have to wait and see. I know that this is the offer I’m hoping for the most.”

Guess so... I figured he already had an offer. IMO then if he has not been offered yet he may not get one.

This kid is huge. He has the room to put on some more pounds. I agree with whoever said that he has some decent athleticism and pretty good feet. With time and practice, his maneuverability will get better.

His UT family history is a great plus. I hope we offer him soon.

Rubio said on twitter that The coaches are in the process of evaluating film, so if he were to get an offer, it will be soon

Ah that's right I thought it was the Vandy game that he visited last season. I know the Orange Pride girl who showed him around that day. She told me his name and I remember him because his name is unique. I don't see why we don't offer him. We need lineman and he wants to be here. I think it's a win-win for us. But then again, I am not a coach.

Doesn't mean much.
There are like 500-600 prospects a year that get "nominated" for that game. It doesn't mean they will be selected.

FWIW, they'll pick 90 guys to play out of this year's 400 nominees. Fourteen of those are from South Carolina and seven are from TN.

So it's a pretty decent honor just to be nominated, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you're deemed to be an SEC-caliber talent. IMO, though, Rexroad is a very good or better OG prospect.

I dont disagree with anything you said. Being a nominee definitely doesn't mean you are an SEC caliber talent. There are a handful of nominees up here in Cincy for the Army AA game who are in no way SEC caliber talents IMO. Certainly not upper echelon.

FWIW, if all 400 nominees were signed by top D1 programs @ 25 players per school class you are looking at only 16 FBS schools signing these individuals. I would say that a nomination speaks highly assuming the nominations are not empty forms filled out by bias coaches in which any chump could be nominated.

Hell if all 12 of the SEC schools signed 25 kids that is 300 kids. So depending on the nomination process, it is legit to think that all 400 COULD be SEC-caliber players. I'm not saying that they are, because I'm sure they are not. But all else equal, I wouldn't let the number of nominees diminsh the honor of being nominated.

The 400 nominees are far from the Top 400 prospects in the country.

There are other All-American games now that are just as good if not better than the Army game. Under Armour especially. Personally, I think the Under Armour game has surpassed the Army game in terms of quality.
