'11 TN QB Mike Wegzyn

Does this kid have any shot at winning the qb job? I know it's not in game situations, but he appears to throw the best ball in practice videos.

Maybe I am crazy, but I think Wegzyn could end up being 3 deep this year. And if we have another injury filled season, that could put him under center. I really think he could end up being neck and neck with Peterman...and between the Peterman flop, and Wegzyn having more in game experience, he might get the nod.

Of course, that would require Worley and Dobbs being unable to play at the same time.

Maybe it plays out where,

Worley starts and gets 80-85% of the reps.

Peterman is #2 and gets the other 15-20% during mop up/blow out duty.

Wegzyn is the emergency #3.

Dobbs is a RS.

JMO, Mike looks like he's "aiming" the ball when throws. He's not ripping the ball down the field. You can see a noticeable difference in velocity when Worley/Dobbs throw compared to Wegzyn.

Wegzyn is probably fighting with NP for #3 spot. I think Worley will be the starter. Dobbs will be the 2. Better grasp of playbook plus the added dimension of his mobility.

I'm not seeing it Leb.

With as many QB's that got injured last year, albeit in freaky ways, seems like Butch would be wise to have as many reliable ones as possible with recent game experience under their belt to be called on when ready.

You have to remember that even a RS can play at any time IF the need arises. Just have to burn the RS. I just like the idea of saving a year for Dobbs IF Worley is going to see the vast majority of the meaningful game reps anyways.

Yeah I hear ya and like how you think, but if I needed Dobbs to come in I wouldn't want it to be with no game action during the season at all against say alabama. I'm thinking your idea is a great one with a more robust rotation.

I see your point...and I like it.

If Worley plays well enough/ avoids injury to the point we only need another QB to come in for mop up duty, I see no need for the QB to be Dobbs. It would be very nice to get Dobbs that RS, then bring him out next year with Peterman at #2 and a hopeful RS for Dormady and Jennings.

No disrespect, but most likely Wegzyn wanted to come home and wants to be a coach. Good practice qb, helps with drills. If he is playing we are in big trouble unless it is a blowout.
